Front of House Job Type Part-time Description *When the original* ***Lucys Retired Surfers Bar and Restaurant*** *opened in New York City in 1985, it was meant to be a refuge for displaced servers banging out a living in the concrete jungle. But its zany staff, killer drinks, and laid-back vibe attracted more than just Upper West Siders who longed for the beach. **Responsibilities:**

* Take food and drink orders from customers accurately and with a positive attitude.

* Write patrons' food orders on order slips, memorize orders, or enter orders into computers for transmittal to kitchen staff.

* Engage with customers in a friendly manner.

* Knowledge of the menu, with the ability to make suggestions.

* Ensure tables are enjoying their meals and take action to correct any problems.

* Collect payments from tables.

* Prepare checks that itemize and total meal costs and sales taxes.

* Help food preparation staff when necessary.

Requirements **Skills/Experience/Requirements**

* Meets state minimum age to serve alcohol

* Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

* Proficient in written and verbal communication skills.

* Minimum of six months to a one-year as a server preferred

* Ability to interact professionally with other departments and outside contacts.

* Ability to complete a heavy workload and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.

* Good judgment and decision-making abilities.

**Physical Requirements**

* Must be able to work in a fast-paced, high energy, and physically demanding environment.

* Must be able to spend 100% of working time standing, walking, and reaching.

* Pushing, pulling, and lifting objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally, from position to position.

* Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling while walking, standing or crouching in narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces.

* Hearing sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction.
