The Controller plans and directs all accounting operational functions, handles the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, and evaluates accounting and internal control systems. We are searching for an individual who demonstrates a positive professional attitude; displays integrity, reliability, and leadership; and can offer outstanding client services by managing oneself with urgency, practicality, and accountability.
This is a hybrid role out of the West Palm Beach office. Salary up to $130K.
Role overview:
- Provide financial leadership and direction to the management team, ensuring effective collaboration and high performance for a collection of small businesses in a range of sectors that are operated by a family-owned parent company.
- Manage all A/R and A/P functions and monthly closing as well as financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting across multi-jurisdictional entities.
- Responsible for maintaining probability adjusted forecast and cash flow.
- Maintain a strong system of internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual tax and compliance filings. Working with external accountants.
- Analyze financial data and provide insights to support decision-making by management and monitor key financial metrics on progress.
- Collaborate with departments to optimize financial processes and drive operational efficiency.
- Prepare and present accurate financial reports and statements to the owners/family and other stakeholders.
- Coordinate with external auditors and manage the audit process.
- Provide strategic financial guidance and support to the family on matters related to real estate investments, acquisitions, and dispositions.
- Collaborate with the family's legal and tax advisors to ensure optimal tax planning and compliance.
Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in accounting, Finance, or related field. Masters degree or CPA designation is strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role within a family run company with multiple business lines in a variety of sectors with preference given to those with experience in the hospitality/food and beverage sectors.
- Preference for experience working with E-Comms business.
- Proven experience with tax regulation, small business operations, and financial management.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, tax laws and regulations, and best practices in financial management.
- Asset to have some knowledge of Canadian and/or Bahamian tax principles.
- Experience with QuickBooks for all accounting and finance related processes.
- Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex financial information in a clear and concise manner.
- High level of integrity and professionalism, with the ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite.
