Habitat Specialty is a Managing General Agent (MGA) that is wholly owned by Virtus, LLC that specializes in the property management and real estate market. Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced leader to join us as a Claims & Risk Manager for our MGA. This position will manage a claims adjuster, while also adjusting Commercial Real Estate Property claims and liability claims. This person will work closely with the Lead Underwriter and VP of Operations to streamline claim operations, policies and procedures. The MGA partners with Llyod’s of London for its policy placement and this position ensures that we handle the claims in accordance with their guidelines. The Manager will oversee the monthly claims bordereaux, vendor contract negotiations, and negotiate our claim handling fees. This position will strategize with the team to move the Claims Operations forward. The Experience You Will Bring: •Manage overall claim process for core property and casualty claims and coverage. •Adjust Commercial Property and liability claims Including litigated files. •Drive the claim strategy and risk programs for the MGA group. •Participate in establishing/defining short- and long- term goals and plans for the work group. •Provide ongoing coaching, technical expertise, and direction to colleagues and support a culture of teamwork, commitment, productivity and superior quality. •Assess and determine the appropriate technology for the claim platform. •Tracks, analyzes and manages high volumes of claims data for the MGA operation. •Monitor quality assurance program and conduct monthly call reviews with team members. Identify trends and provide appropriate direction. •Communicate with all claim stakeholders, including claimants, brokers, internal underwriting and client success team, carriers/syndicates, etc. •Resolve claims fairly and timely abiding by all regulatory (DOI) mandates. •Prepare reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information. •Manage monthly claims bordereaux report, Including tracking claims handling fees •Maintain all necessary claim licensing. •Ensure legal compliance by following company policies, procedures, and guidelines, as well as state and federal insurance regulations. •Assist with the completion of ad hoc projects as needed to assist in the continued growth of our Habitat Specialty team. •Other duties as assigned by the team and leadership. Education and Experience: •7+ years Insurance Claims, Litigation and Coverage experience. •5+ years prior agency/brokerage/carrier level property and casualty insurance experience is required. •Proven leadership experience/development of teams. •Position requires direct communication with clients; therefore, strong written, oral and presentation communication skills, with a commitment to impeccable client service are required; ability to adjust easily to working well with a variety of workstyles. •Proven analytical and problem-solving skills. •Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail. •Great, positive attitude and the ability to work independently under pressure. •Ability to complete quality work and solve Insured/claimant Issues without constant supervision and Involvement of others. •Must have familiarity and good working knowledge of various Microsoft software applications (Excel), Agency Management Systems, and the ability to learn new software systems. •Ability to be flexible, adaptable, and work in a team environment that is constantly evolving. •Proven capability to lead projects. •Ability to negotiate and utilize conflict management skills.
