About this Position:
The purpose of the Compute Infrastructure Project Manager is to ensure Honda North America Region quality, cost, and delivery (QCD) targets are continuously being met and compute infrastructure projects are being seamlessly delivered across the North America Region.
The Compute Infrastructure Project Manager plays a critical role in planning, organizing, leading, and managing multiple projects to meet business demand for Compute Infrastructure Services Department. This role requires the individual to have ability to oversee and manage large, complex, diverse, and strategic compute infrastructure projects that impact Sales, Captive Finance, Manufacturing, Design Center, and Aerospace business units during weekdays, weekends, and holiday periods. This individual needs to exert the ability to understand and manage complex IT program and project budgets.
The Compute Infrastructure Project Manager position plays a vital role in boosting the AHM, AHFC, HDMA, HACI, HRI, and HISV customer experience by ensuring the smooth delivery of best-in-class compute infrastructure project services that meet and/or exceed customer demands. The Compute Infrastructure Project Manager requires unique combination of technical/business acumen and interpersonal skills as well as passion for delivering high quality project management services to IT Business Aligned Divisions.
Responsibilities include:
Project / Program Management
o Managing project development and execution
o Working with project sponsor to understand project charter, scope, budget, timing, deliverables, and resource requirement
o Communicating clearly the expectation to project sponsor and team members
o Completing work breakdown structure for estimation of effort required
o Preparing and providing project schedule
o Determine requirement with external partner to support project activity
o Tracking and reporting project milestones and providing status reports to project sponsor (QCD)
o Developing tools and applying best practices for the execution and project management
Work together with Team/Unit Managers to supervise multiple Vendors and ensure QCD targets in accordance with established project plans and contracts are being consistently met
Work together with Team/Unit/Department Managers to provide input for the direction and vision of Compute Infrastructure Services
o Provide input for the development of midterm strategies and annual business plan.
o Participate as member for on-going continuous improvement for the department.
o Promote Compute Infrastructure Services Department and its capabilities
o Learn and understand the business
o Develop relationships with IT Business Aligned Divisions and vendors
Who we are seeking:
Required Work Experience:
2+ years of work experience managing large, complex, diverse, and strategic IT projects spanning Mainframe, Open Systems, Storage and Backup systems
Basic knowledge of installation/configuration of computer systems and network administration
Basic knowledge of IT Operations (Open Systems, Storage Technologies, BUR, ITIL Process Governance & Management)
Strong preparation and presentation skills for upper Management levels as well as stakeholders’ status reports
Strong IT project management skills (able to manage multiple projects)
Required Education:
IS related Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent work experience
Desired skills:
Knowledge of project management tolls and software packages
Strong planning, organization, and communication skills
Strong problem-solving skills
Ability to prioritize workload, work independently, and within a team
Ability to document technical business requirements
Ability to operate well in complex, collaborative environment
Identify and present opportunities to improve operational procedures and documentation
Time management skills and ability to meet deadlines
Highly motivated and customer focused
