About this Position:

The Product Owner II is a key member of an agile team and is responsible for maximizing the value delivered by the team by ensuring that the team backlog and priority is aligned with customer and stakeholder needs. As a member of the extended Product Management function, the PO is the teams primary customer advocate and primary link to business users and product roadmap. The Product Owner II is expected to collaborate closely with cross-functional (business and IT) teams to ensure their product aligns with user needs, is delivered efficiently, and meets quality standards.

Responsibilities include:

  • Product Management/Enhancements: Responsible for supporting the Agile team in delivering value while providing periodic updates to leadership.
    • Work with key stakeholders to prioritize and manage product backlog, manage scope.
    • Guides development of features that are broken down into well written stories.
    • Work closely with development teams to translate requirements into actionable user stories.
    • Ensure high quality product delivery by completing testing, reporting, and tracking of defects through resolution.
    • Manage user communication and assist with defect resolution.
    • Ensures user stories meet the Definition of Done (DoD).
  • Product Ownership and Contribution: Clarity of strategy to be able to clearly articulate the priority to the team.
    • Guides roadmap activity for the product/system.
    • Prioritize features and enhancements based on business value, market trends, and customer needs.
    • Drives non-functional portion of product quality.
    • Ensures the team focuses on value delivery for supported products/applications.
    • Drives PI planning initiatives through backlog readiness and preparation.
  • One Way Best Way Customer Focus: Connect with the customer and apply feedback from key stakeholders.
    • Understand and empathize with customer to define and focus on the right problem to solve.
    • Collaborates both internally and externally to collect, document and clearly understand business needs for user stories.
    • Guide opportunities for team level improvements.
    • Regularly communicate product updates and progress to stakeholders.
    • Communicates updates effectively across business and IT landscapes and escalate as needed.

Who we are seeking:

Required Experience:

  • 3-5 years experience in purchasing, supply chain or technical field. Production control and supply chain experience highly recommended.

Required Education:

  • Bachelors Degree in Supply Chain, Purchasing or Technical field (i.e. IT, Engineering) or equivalent

Other job-specific skills:

  • Proven ability to manage large projects across multiple business departments.
  • Proven skills in the following: computer skills; effective verbal, presentation, and written communication skills.
  • Critical communication, presentation, and storytelling skills
  • Ability to multitask and work with minimum supervision; ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Design Thinking process.
  • Experience with Agile or Scrum processes and procedures.
  • Knowledge of product ownership; IS/IT; ability to support/lead a project (J-Flow); knowledge transfer, capability to learn, understand and able to explain the systems capability and process.
  • Able to empathize with associate, understand and clearly convey sentiment.
  • Knowledge of Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)

Additional Position Factors:

  • Position is Virtual
  • Typical travel: 1-2 times per Quarter
  • Approx. 5-10 hours per week overtime, more possible during peak project activity.
