Summary The Senior Underwriter will complete a thorough analysis of mortgage loan files that vary in complexity, determine compliance, and communicate decisions to appropriate parties; looked to as a mentor for lower-level Underwriters. Review, analyze, and determine mortgage loan compliance with Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, VA, and Rural Development guidelines Ensure accuracy of all loan documentation Gather information to make appropriate decisions Clearly communicate decisions and the justification behind those decisions to the appropriate parties Complete required assigned compliance trainings Assist in the training and mentoring of Underwriting Assistants, Junior Underwriters, and Underwriters Requirements To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Finance, or a related field; equivalent professional experience in lieu of a degree At least 5 years of mortgage underwriting experience FHA Direct Endorsement certification and/ VA Credit Authority Strong and sound decision-making abilities with the ability to work independently & yet collaboratively with the underwriting team Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written Commitment to providing excellent customer service and high-quality output Experience with Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Excel, Word, etc. Work Environment Corporate office setting – indoor and climate controlled Home Office Setting – if telecommuting remotely Benefits Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Disability, 401k, PTO, Holidays, Casual Dress Code
