REPORTS TO: Director of Field Operations

POSITION SUMMARY

Plan, develop, coordinate, and supervise safety corporate safety, health, and environment protection functions. Develop safety policies and programs which affect all Company operating units and are of critical importance to overall Company objectives, operations, and profitability.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Other duties may be assigned.

Statement of Tasks

Create and implement safety plans and procedures tailored to the specific needs of each construction project.

Identify potential hazards on the job site and assess the risk they pose to workers through regular inspections and audits.

Assist project and department management to ensure compliance with all safety programs, policies, and procedures.

Investigate all accidents resulting in death of an employee, accidents involving multiple hospitalizations or major property or equipment damage.

Represent the Company in all safety related hearings (OSHA, MIOSHA, etc.).

Review all safety documents for completeness and ensure they are forwarded to federal and state agencies according to regulations, as well as to the Company insurance carrier as required by state guidelines.

Compile safety-related information for bid proposals.

Coordinate with regulatory agencies to ensure the project site complies with environmental protection requirements.

Lead the Company safety committee, oversee regular meetings, and develop the safety budget. Design and implement training programs for DVCC staff.

Manage safety training for new employees, covering safety skills, lift certification, OSHA 10-hour Certification, and procurement databases. Recertify employees in first aid, CPR, and field lift certification.

Manage Veriforce, Avetta, and ISN procurement databases to ensure contractors and vendors comply with safety standards. Utilize Align to track PPE.

EMPLOYMENT QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Degree in Occupational Safety/Health or equivalent related experience.

Experience:

Three years experience

Knowledge of federal, state, and local construction/industrial safety requirements.

Relevant Certifications: OSHA 30-Hour, CHST, ASP, CSP, CPR, First Aid are preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

Knowledge:

Knowledge of construction and/or industrial safety requirements and a thorough understanding and ability to enforce federal, state, local and Company regulations.

Skill/Ability:

Excellent written/oral communication skills required.

Strong people skills

Work effectively in a team environment.

Self-starter with strong attention to detail.

Ability to multitask and follow tasks through to completion.

Good understanding of construction project management practices, procedures, and materials with excellent trouble shooting abilities

Ability to identify potential hazardous materials.

Observe, understand, practice, and teach correct safety procedures.

Attend continuing education seminars are required.
