Job Title: Food Safety Supervisor

Kelly Science and Clinical is seeking a highly skilled Food Safety Supervisor to join our team in West Jefferson, OH.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a seasoned professional to oversee the application of industry food safety standards in our manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with quality standards throughout every phase of food processing, packaging, and distribution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership in the development, training, execution, and verification/validation of all quality systems.
  • Lead the quality oversight program for aseptic operations, including developing training material for aseptic observation and teaching and mentoring QA floor support in aseptic processing quality and compliance attributes.
  • Provide training and technical support for all operational employees related to GMP's, aseptic processing and packaging, sanitation, food safety, and product quality.
  • Ensure compliance to all regulatory, customer, and corporate programs.
  • Lead and participate in regulatory, customer, and internal audits.
  • Provide leadership in the development, training, and maintenance of the plant Food Safety and Quality programs.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of GFSI standards.
  • Ensure consistent communication and foster teamwork between all local personnel, departments, and shifts.
  • Primary contact for internal and external customers.
  • Ensure company personnel policies and procedures are fairly administered between departments and shifts.
  • Responsible for developing annual Quality and Sanitation budgets and managing cost control throughout the calendar year.
  • Champion the use of Quality Improvement Tools, Lean Manufacturing, and Root Cause Analysis.
  • Responsible for developing and monitoring plant sanitation programs to ensure a safe and wholesome product supply.
  • Strong SPC background to manage the collection, trending, and reporting of data to identify root cause and areas of opportunity including but not limited to key product attributes, shelf life, and productivity while maintaining quality.
  • Responsible for the communication of Food Safety and Quality related KPI's and leading teams in identifying and addressing trends.
  • Provide leadership to help ensure a safe work environment throughout the plant.
  • Adhere to all safety policies and procedures. Follow GMP's, maintain sanitary conditions, and ensure that product quality is maintained.
  • Report and work to correct any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality, or personnel safety.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science or related field.
  • 5+ years' supervisory or managerial experience in a food plant manufacturing environment.
  • Aseptic beverage processing, especially Tetra Pak.
  • Completed HACCP training.
  • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to develop and motivate salaried and hourly personnel.
  • Able to work overtime, weekends, and off shifts as required or deemed necessary.
  • Experience or knowledge of all applicable food industry-related quality systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Technical knowledge of aseptic processes, equipment, and products.
  • Knowledge and experience in microbiological testing/commercial sterility testing of aseptic food or beverages.
  • Knowledge and experience with Quality Management Systems, such as, RedZone and Intelex.
  • Experience with new plant startup processes.
  • Better Process Control School Certification.
  • Completed PCQI training.
  • SQF Edition 9 Certified.
  • HACCP Manager.
  • Internal Auditor training.
