POSITION OVERVIEW:
Reporting to the Chief Information Officer (CIO) or designate, the Data Analyst Lead is responsible for providing insights and recommendations to help drive data-driven decision making across the organization. The Data Analyst Lead will work with key stakeholders and team members to identify key performance indicators, develop dashboards and reports, and perform in-depth data analysis.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Daily Operations
Work with the CIO to analyze business requirements and make recommendations to implement suitable solutions.
Support the CIO with strategic planning and execution of plans.
Work with the CIO to champion the utilisation of data in the organisations business operations.
Work with CIO in driving and implementation of artificial intelligence and automation throughout the business.
Assist with the development and enforcement of data-based standards and processes to ensure the efficient generation of reports, and consumption of data.
Support the CIO with managing relevant activity schedules including but not limited to data warehouse maintenance, data archiving, data sanitization, etc.
Track and resolve support tickets related for the data analyst team.
Provide guidance to less senior analysts.
Collaborate with other teams/departments to identify data needs and create analytical solutions to support business objectives.
Interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing reports.
Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in data sets.
Filter and clean data by reviewing system generated reports, printouts, and other performance indicators to locate and correct data problems.
Work alongside assigned business/department to identify risk areas, prioritize needs and locate and define new process improvement opportunities.
Develop reports and provide training to users on how to use and leverage reports and, dashboards, as well as how to analyze data to make data-drive decisions as it relates to their respective roles and departments, including:
Retail and Warehouse Operations Analytics
Branch sales strategies and operational optimization.
Warehousing KPIs and process completion and accuracy levels.
Assist in the assessment of branch and warehouse loss prevention measures as reported on in the operational dashboards to minimize and mitigate the instances of voids, return/refunds, damages, theft and fraud.
Buying & Category Management Analytics
Trends and sell through data and identify opportunities across product categories and customer segments.
Assist buyers in forecasting and recommending purchase quantities across categories.
Provide data to support Category Management relating to expediting product and data changes to prevent out-of-stock.
Inventory Analytics
Automate replenishment, expiry dates, aging inventory, inventory turnover and controls that monitor stock variances.
Analyze and resolve inconsistencies in data including but not limited to bar codes, item description and packaging in order to preserve data integrity.
Marketing & E-Commerce Analytics
Analysis of customer information to provide customized solutions.
Analysis of operational performance to determine campaign design, measurement, and effectiveness.
Provide various reports to optimize website performance, e.g. SEO, keywords.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge/Experience:
Bachelors degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science or related discipline.
Certification in Data Science or Business Analytics.
Five (5) OLevel passes, including Math and English.
A minimum of four (4) years experience in data analysis or data management.
A minimum three (3) years experience in a supervisory or managerial role.
Strong knowledge of and experience with reporting packages, databases (Power-BI, Microsoft SQL, etc.).
Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing datasets (Excel, SPSS, SAS etc.).
Experience in variance analysis, trends, audit principles is highly preferred.
Ability to apply First Principles thinking to practical problems.
Strong organizational skills, reliable, autonomous and ability to handle multiple requests in order of priority and meet strict deadlines.
Strong sense of responsibility and ownership of role.
Extremely analytical and a logical thinker.
Ability to analyze and interpret large volumes of data.
Ability to identify and investigate data anomalies.
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing environments and changing priorities.
Must be accurate and detail oriented.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to observe and maintain confidentiality in the performance of duties.
Must be pro-active, highly motivated, with great enthusiasm and proven team player.
