San Francisco, United States Asian Law Caucus Full time

The Opportunity: The Asian Law Caucus (ALC), a leading civil rights organization dedicated to advocating for API and immigrant communities, is looking for a passionate and experienced Chief Development Officer to join our senior leadership team. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in propelling ALC’s mission forward, ensuring we have the necessary resources to effect meaningful change. We seek someone to craft a visionary fundraising strategy and design and implement a comprehensive fundraising approach that encompasses individual giving, major donations, and institutional support. This role leads ALC’s fundraising efforts, overseeing all facets of our fundraising program and driving initiatives that resonate with our community and mission. The Chief Development Officer will engage with key stakeholders, cultivate relationships with influential external partners, and represent ALC at public events and forums to showcase our impactful work. At ALC, you will be part of a dedicated team that champions justice and equity for API and immigrant communities. This is not just a job; it’s a chance to make a real difference in the lives of those we serve. This position reports to the Executive Director. The Organization Asian Law Caucus (ALC) is the nation’s first legal and civil rights organization serving low-income, immigrant, and marginalized Asian, Arab, Middle Eastern and Pacific Islander communities. Since 1972, ALC has fought to protect access to affordable housing in San Francisco’s Chinatown, litigated high-profile civil rights cases, advocated for the passage of landmark policy changes, and provided an array of services to low-income immigrants and communities of color. Today, with a staff of 60 we bring together legal services, community empowerment, and policy advocacy to fight for immigrant justice, economic security, and a stronger, multiracial democracy. Our work is rooted in the San Francisco Bay Area and California and expands to states across the country, including places where immigrant, Asian, Arab, Middle Eastern, and Pacific Islander communities are rapidly growing. Primary Responsibilities Fundraising and Donor Engagement Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy, including individual giving, major donors, and institutional funding to meet an annual $17M budget. Oversee all aspects of ALC’s fundraising program. With the Communications team, implement marketing strategies to support fundraising efforts. Coordinate and guide the Executive Director and Board in their fund development activities. Cultivate relationships with key external stakeholders and represent ALC and its work at public events and forums. Team Management and Development Build and lead a high-performing development team of 7 staff members. Provide mentorship and guidance to staff. Foster a culture of collaboration and innovation. Infrastructure and Systems Management Develop and maintain effective fundraising systems and processes. Manage the development team's budget. Implement technology solutions to enhance operations. Executive Leadership Work closely with the Executive Director and senior leadership on fundraising strategy to ensure alignment with operational and programmatic needs. Serve as a key member of ALC's strategy team. Ensure close coordination with program teams on data gathering, reporting and evaluation. Qualifications Passion for ALC's mission and nonprofit fundraising. 10+ years of nonprofit fundraising experience, including 5+ years in senior leadership. Proven track record of achieving fundraising goals from diverse sources including foundations, government, and major donors. Relationships with national and state foundations a plus. Strong networking, communication, and interpersonal skills. Experience in creating strategic multi-year fundraising plans. Demonstrated success in staff management and mentorship. Excellent organizational and multitasking skills. Expertise with fundraising software (e.g., GiveSmart, NetworkforGood) and project management tools (e.g., Asana, Slack, Salesforce). Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred. All ALC staff are expected to participate in regular check-in meetings with their supervisor/supervisees, staff meetings, team meetings, and other organization meetings, as required. This includes two (2) annual retreats, an anniversary celebration dinner, and meetings as needed in the San Francisco Bay area. The above statements are not intended to encompass all functions of the position; rather, they are intended to provide a general framework of the requirements of the position. Job incumbents may be required to perform other functions not specifically addressed in this posting. #J-18808-Ljbffr
