Reports To: PCS Manager I FLSA Status: Exempt Position Summary Responsible for strategic estimating of Door, Frame, Hardware packages for large-capital commercial construction projects accurately and on time. Duties & Responsibilities: Read and interpret contract documents, including but not limited to scope of work, requests for proposal, project schedules, drawings/details, specifications, and opening schedules to form bid strategies and keeping Sales informed Manage risk by finding discrepancies and communicate/clarify issues through RFIs and/or document in clarification letter in a timely manner Identify and develop opportunities for value engineering by defining alternatives to the proposed scope that are more cost-efficient Prepare detailed take-off and estimates utilizing Bluebeam and MS Excel exports of door schedules for importing into Comsense Enter door and frame attributes and hardware sets for manufacturer RFQs for pricing in Comsense Generate pricing from Manufacturer online estimating platforms (VT online, Masonite) by leveraging Comsense RFQs Enter quoted material unit pricing and discounts from manufacturers as applicable. Prioritize and send RFQs for manufacturers not in Comsense when applicable Compile comprehensive DFH estimate in ISEC Projects, including material, freight, detailing/engineering, escalation, and installation costs for turnover to region Responsible for ensuring that all quantities and pricing are accurate and complete Leads the documentation management of the project in alignment with established standards. Ensures all documents are complete Facilitate engagement with Sales/Region as necessary to keep team informed of constraints, plan of action and progress Participate in bid closings and estimate reviews Balance workload and assignments to meet deadlines Manage action items from Post Bid and finalize ISEC scope. Compute cost estimates for subcontracted work to ensure comprehensive coverage of requirements, and labor. Customer Service Skills: Demonstratescommitment to deliver outstandingservice– both with internal and external customers Takes ownership to personally resolve customer problems (or find someone who can) Listens well, asks clarifying questions, and checks for agreement with customers Committed to following-up with customers in all instances in a timely manner Strong sense of accountability - ensures that you will do what you say that you are going to do Creates a personal connection with customers – smiles, warm greetings, acts friendly and respectful Preferred Qualifications (in addition to minimum qualifications) Education/Experience Bachelor’s degree in a related field DHI Certifications – DHC or AHC (preferred) Experience with Comsense Opening Suite Experience with manufacturer’s Programs: Assa Abloy (Extranet/CRC Dash), Curries (COW/Edge), Allegion (360 Portal),dormakaba, Masonite (DoorBuilder/DoorBuilder LIVE), VT (VT Online), Total Door (Doorbuilder), Eggers EOL Knowledge/Skills Ability to provide design build assistance and specification writing Minimum Qualifications 8+ years in DFH Distributor as an estimator Meets all Minimum Qualifications of Estimator I and II, in addition to the following: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities High level of strategy, proactive engagement to move project through estimating effectively; holds others accountable Provide design build assistance as necessary Manages and maintains vendor relationships Capitalizes on potential opportunities for companywide advantages Works on complex projects Earns trust to close out bid without management present Actively seeks competitive information to provide insight to project team Delivers comprehensive estimate/bid due to expansive supplier knowledge Advanced knowledge of ISEC products, services, processes, and projects Exposure to multiple or larger projects with increased scope and complexity Fully autonomous in position Directs activities; offers recommendations and solutions Demonstrates problem solving and mature judgement in anticipating and solving issues Assist in development/mentoring of Level 1 & 2; may have multiple direct reports May assist with hiring and performance reviews
