Our Material Handling Division, which spans across Mi-Jack RTG cranes, Broderson industrial cranes, LiftKing forklifts, and Greenfield equipment, is hiring a Lead Project Engineer for our Crane and Forklift Attachments, Rigging, and Related Equipment Product Line.As a project lead engineer, you will be responsible for an assigned project from conception to completion.You will ensure the key design deliverables are met for the program.Your focus will be on coordinating deliverables, maintaining the budget, measuring team performance against KPI's and providing weekly updates to the chief engineer and cross functional team leadership.

Essential Functions:

  • Establish the project plan and use it to manage project delivery.
  • Able to work in a structured 3-D environment. 2-D design a plus.
  • Working knowledge of bill-of-material management on both the drawings and within an ERP system.
  • Own the project objectives and deliverables. Review and release projects for procurement.
  • Communicate project status.
  • Creates and maintains budgets and forecasts requirements with economic justifications linked to project activities.
  • Manage a project to adhere to the Lanco Development Process (LDP) process
  • Coordinate activities to meet program budget, and timing schedule.
  • Develop & maintain program budgets to include labor, material, and outsourcing.
  • Be focused on the full project life cycle and impact it has on other projects.
  • Develop program requirements with chief engineer to align with the platform requirements.
Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities:
  • Strong leadership skills with the proven ability to drive projects to completion.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
  • General knowledge of basic machine design and operation. Industry knowledge in machinery operation. Welding knowledge for fabrication requirements.
  • Working knowledge of general computer applications (Excel, Word, etc.)
  • Expert in MS Project or similar system
  • Strong time and priority management with ability to manage a large number of activities.
  • Ability to set clear objectives and deliverables.
  • Ability to work with a cross functional team and communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, outside suppliers, and management.
  • Ability to influence others, regardless of position power or organizational boundaries.
  • Ability to hold others accountable.
  • Work with technical engineering team managers to create project plans and budgets.
  • Oversee requirements definition for functionality and performance improvements in order to plan a course of action consistent with project and product line objectives.
  • Accountable for project focus and requesting resources.
  • Communicates the requirements of the project.
  • Effectively communicates with all machine system development groups to ensure project requirements and aid coordination of systems compatibility.
  • Work collaboratively with marketing, engineering, and customers to develop the machine requirements for a project that exceeds customers' expectations.
  • Oversees the specifications & requirements for the project
  • Keeps informed of engineering and machinery industry technological developments, and evolving field practices through field contacts, attending meetings and maintaining membership in technical societies.
Work Environment:

This is primarily an office classification, and employees work in an office with moderate noise levels, controlled temperature conditions and no direct exposure to hazardous physical substances. May work offsite in various environments; travel may be required.

Physical Demands and Travel Requirements:
  • The position occasionally bends, stoops, reaches, pushes and pulls drawers to retrieve and file information and lifts and carries reports, records, and other materials that typically weigh less than 30 pounds.
  • Up to 10% domestic and international travel is expected.
Education Requirements:

Required:
  • Accredited engineering degree with emphasis in mechanical, industrial, structural, automotive and/or electrical disciplines.
  • 8+ years work experience in aforementioned engineering discipline.
  • 8+ years work experience with cross-functional team collaboration.
Preferred:
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience working in an engineering capacity supporting product development with a particular focus on full machine delivery in the material handling, construction equipment, agricultural equipment, or other heavy equipment industry
  • PMP or CPAM-PMI Certification
