Responsibilities: The Federal Grants, Senior Accountant is primarily responsible for the accurate accounting of all transactions related to federally funded programs of the Foundation. The Federal Grants, Senior Accountant ensures that all financial records for federally funded projects are maintained in compliance with the Foundation’s policies and procedures, granting agency guidelines and all applicable federal rules and regulations related to federally funded programs.
Qualifications and Skills Necessary
5-7 years of accounting experience preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance preferred.
Previous experience with full cycle accounting preferred.
Familiarity with 2 CFR Part 200 and OMB federal grant guidelines, rules and regulations preferred.
Experience working with a general ledger accounting system required.
Experience with NetSuite a plus.
Experience with Salesforce preferred.
Proficiency in Excel is required.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, time management and organizational skills.
Ability to handle confidential information in a discreet and professional manner.
Ability to work effectively with all staff and management, attention to detail, deadline driven and ability to work independently are essential characteristics of this position.
Duties and Responsibilities
Accurately record all contracted pledges for federally funded programs within Salesforce and NetSuite.
Monitor invoices for federally funded programs that are generated and ensure they are recorded in NetSuite.
Monitor aging receivables for federally funded programs and promptly follow-up on payments that are due.
Monitor the operating account and determine the accounting necessary to record any electronic payments on pledges for federally funded programs.
Determine what payments apply to contracted pledges related to federally funded programs and record them timely and accurately in both Salesforce and NetSuite. Determine the proper accounting between program and administrative expenses.
Maintain a federal pledges roll forward schedule on a monthly basis.
Perform daily and monthly reconciliations of federal pledges and payments between Salesforce and NetSuite.
Generate weekly and ad hoc reports for new pledges and payments related to federally funded programs.
Assist with the monthly closing process including adjusting entries, account analysis and reconciliations for federally funded programs in a timely manner.
Perform a monthly budget vs. actual analysis for revenue related to federally funded programs.
Generate supporting schedules for quarterly and annual federal financial reports submissions. Assist with close-out process for federally funded programs.
Assist with preparation of audit schedules for single audits and provide supporting documentation as required.
Act as subject matter expert for NetSuite specific to payments and invoicing to support users throughout the Foundation.
Other duties as assigned.
