ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Performs monthly bank reconciliations, reviews and prepares journal entries and maintains recurring journal entries. Posts daily activity from operational systems to the general ledger. Records and reconciles payroll transactions. Supports Accounts Payable and others as a back up to their daily functions. Serves as liaison for the day-to-day banking activities. Assists VP of Finance with month end and year-end closings, including preparing audit work papers. Performs and assists in a variety of accounting, financial analysis, and budget projects. Works with department personnel to understand accounting processes and procedures. Addresses challenges with possible solutions in a timely manner. Performs all internal and external interactions with a high level of customer service. Act according to facility protocol to ensure safety of all staff and children which includes: Adhere to policies related to boundaries with staff and children. Attend required abuse risk management training. Report suspicious and inappropriate behaviors and policyviolations. Follow mandated abuse reporting requirements. LEADERSHIP COMPETENCIES Functional Expertise in Accounting Critical Thinking & Decision Making Communication & Influence QUALIFICATIONS 2 year degree in accounting with 5 years related experience OR 4 year degree in accounting with 1-2 years of experience. Knowledge of general ledger and accounting functions, including GAAP and internal controls. Comfortable with computerized accounting systems. Prior experience with non-profit accounting a plus. Proficient in Microsoft Office Excel, Word and Outlook required. Excellent problem-solving skills. Must be highly organized and have the ability to work with confidential matters. WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use a computer for extended periods of time and be able to communicate using a computer and phone/smart device.
