**Summary:**
Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, the incumbent procures chassis, tanks, van bodies, trailers, parts and materials for petroleum tank truck, trailer, and lube unit builds. The buyer also sets up and maintains item data in the inventory system.
**Supervisory Responsibility:**
This job has no direct supervisory responsibilities at this time.
**Essential Job Functions:**
**Purchase Orders Management (30%)**
* Generate purchase orders (POs) for chassis, box vans, trailer, tank parts and materials, and issue to approved vendors
* Manage POs in process by changing existing POs, creating change orders, and taking actions to expedite, defer or cancel POs
* Receive vendor order confirmations to ensure order specifications such as price, quantity and delivery time conform to POs
* Track late deliveries and follow up with suppliers to identify root causes and obtain new delivery dates
**Develop Specifications and Purchase new chassis, van bodies, tanks and trailers (20%)**
* Participate in the development and maintenance of the New Unit Production Schedule as it relates to chassis, tank and trailer delivery dates and the linking of specific assess to orders
**Unique Parts & Materials Sourcing (10%)**
* Source special-order parts and materials, including finding and vetting suppliers, assessing quality verses affordability, and determining ordering parameters such as pricing and lead times
* Participate in vendor price negotiations and vendor performance assessments fostering strong vendor relationships.
**Item Data Maintenance (15%)**
* Set up parts and materials in enterprise resource planning (ERP) system, which includes entering such information as item pricing, allocation to orders, sub-contracted services
* Maintain parts and materials item data by keeping specifications such as pricing up-to-date in ERP system
**Planning and Scheduling (15%)**
* Participate in the development and maintenance of the New Unit Production Schedule as it relates to chassis, van bodies, tank and trailer delivery dates
**Facilitating Invoicing and obtaining MSOs (10%)**
* Facilitate invoicing for chassis and trailer asset purchases through obtaining of the MSOs.
**Competencies:**
* Strong organizational skills

* Familiarity with MRP/ERP systems
* Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
* Ability to balance conflicting priorities
* Strong written and oral communication skills
* Self-motivated and able to perform job duties semi-autonomously
**Physical Demands:**
This position will work in an office environment that will require sedentary physical demands with frequently exerting between 0lbs to 10lbs of force
**Equipment & Software:**
Equipment: Office equipment, including telephone, computer, photocopier, fax machine, and scanner
Software: Word processing, spreadsheet, email, internet, enterprise resource planning (ERP)/materials requirements planning (MRP), and inventory replenishment applications
**Safety:**
Follow policies found in Seneca Tank's Safety Manual.
