Join our exceptional team at Carlton Senior Living as the Activities Manager The starting rate of pay is $66,560 salaryexempt, with a Tuesday through Saturday schedule. 9:00am - 5:30pm

SUMMARY

In the Activities Manager position,this role plans,organizes, schedules, coordinates, and directs comprehensive activity programsand events designed to enhance the mind, body, and soul of each of our seniorresidents. The position directly supervises the Activities Assistant andDriver positions, including hiring, directing, training, and scheduling. This role worksalongside all departments to maintain the highest quality of engagementand resident satisfaction while performing the following duties personally orthrough subordinate supervisors and staff.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may beassigned by your direct manager. Regular and predictable attendance is anessential function of the job.
  • Recognizesthe psychosocial needs of the elderly
  • Studiesand analyzes seniors' recreational needs and resources
  • Conductsresearch and develops short- and long-range goals and objectives
  • Continuouslyseeks out new activities, events, and excursions
  • Knowsand understands the Community residents' likes, dislikes, hobbies andinterests
  • Researchesand implements new programs and materials to satisfy and nourish residents'mind, body, and soul daily
  • Maximizesindividual participation in events, while still respecting the resident's rightto privacy
  • Supportsthe Resident Council and any other resident-led committees to assist residentsin voicing concerns, suggestions, and requests
  • Completesthe orientation of all new residents
  • Interpretsprograms and their philosophy to individuals and groups through personalparticipation and staff assignments
  • Schedulesmaintenance and use of Activity Rooms, company vehicles, and all the equipmentnecessary for the department's use
  • SupportsSales in maintaining a continuous in-house and Community marketing effort aswell as successful rental sales
  • Decoratesall common areas of the Community appropriately and adequately in advance of forall seasons and/or holidays to efficiently promote anticipation, enthusiasm andparticipation of the Residents
  • May be required to drive an automobile,mini-van, or small bus to transport residents and visitors to and from outings,events, trips, errands, and appointments
  • Arrangesone-on-one activities or visits to connect with residents who would benefitfrom personalized attention
  • UsesPositive Approach to Care (PAC) to enhance life and relationships for allresidents
  • Facilitatesand adjusts activities based on the participant's needs (GEM, hearing loss,etc)

  • Ancillary Tasks: t hese duties may be performed on anas-needed basis in support of another department
o Assists residents with Activities ofDaily Living (ADLs) including, but not limited to escort, continence care,transfer assistance, and meal assistance.
  • Attends and remains up to date onall company-provided training
  • Attends periodic staff meetings,in-service training, and mandatory meetings as required
  • Observes Residents' Rights, asposted within the facility.
  • Mandated reporting - if you suspectany verbal, physical, emotional, financial, or neglectful treatment toward aresident or staff member, report it to your supervisor immediately
  • In Emergencies, assist residentsaccording to the Emergency Plan of the facility
NONESSENTIALDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include thefollowing. Other duties may be assigned. These duties may be performed on anas-needed basis and are not expected to occur daily.
  • You may be required to provide prospective residenttours of your community as part of the backup tour team
  • Supports variousdepartments when required and engages in community-wide activities or events
SUPERVISORYRESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsibilitiesinclude interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, anddirecting work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees;addressing complaints and resolving problems
  • Continuouslyevaluates staff's skill set, competency, and safe work practices
  • ManagesActivities Assistants and Driver schedules and call-offs
  • Assumesthe duties of Activities Assistants and/or Driver when needed
  • May be responsible for coordinating and overseeingvolunteers
  • Performs dailypayroll edits. Adjust payroll records as appropriate. Perform end-of-periodreview
  • Observes the workenvironment for potential injury hazards and takes appropriate preventativesafety precautions. Actively participate in the prevention, reporting, andmanagement of Workers' Compensation Claims
  • Able to read andwrite reports, business correspondence, memos, and staff performanceevaluations
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • Employee must beat least twenty-o ne (21) years of ageand have maintained a California Driver's License for aminimum of five (5) years
  • High Schooldiploma or general education degree (GED), or equivalent experience
  • One to threemonths of related experience and/or training
COMMUNICATIONSKILLS
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English, so as not to jeopardize the safety and well-being of the residents
  • Ability to communicate with residents, and effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
  • Remains professional and respectful, and interact with our customers - including residents, family members, and all staff members - according to the concepts identified by the Carlton Way
  • Must be able to use technology, such as company-provided phones and tablets, to communicate among staff on resident needs
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safetyrules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
  • Musthave obtained a CA Driver's License and have less than three (3) movingviolations or less than two (2) accidents within the past 5 years
  • Must provide and maintain a valid Medical Examiner's Certificate (if applicable)
  • Mustobtain and provide DMV driving record prior to employment
  • A negative Drug Test must be obtained prior to employment, and employee is subject to random quarterly drug tests thereafter. (obtained through community)
  • Mustbe authorized to work in the United States of America and provide sufficientwork authorization documentation(s)
  • Departmentof Justice and FBI fingerprint clearance must be completed prior to working inthe community (obtained through the community)
  • Healthscreening/Physical and negative tuberculosis test must be less than six (6)months old (obtained through the community)
  • FirstAid/CPR Certification (obtained through the community)

Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the total package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives.
