The Staff Accountant II is responsible for maintaining the general ledger throughout the month (including month-end close), preparing financial statements, completing financial analysis, and communicating with assigned branch offices. The Staff Accountant II can post and self-approve entries up to $50,000.

  • This position is located at 6688 N. Central Expressway, Dallas, TX 75206.
  • All members of the accounting team are expected to work onsite, at the corporate office in Dallas, the first 10 business days of each month.
  • Hybrid eligible: Once fully trained, this position will be eligible to work remotely 2-3 days per week.
Responsibilities:
  • Prepare monthly financial statements
  • Prepare journal entries appropriately, including documentation and approvals
  • Analyze monthly financial statements, including cost per patient day, and variance against prior year and budget, month to date and year to date; provide concise explanations to support findings
  • Assist Staff Accountant I with issues during month end and throughout the month as needed; review and post Staff Accountant I journal entries
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet account reconciliations and provide detail reconciliations
  • Prepare key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Serve as a mentor to Staff Accountant I
  • Prepare moderately complex functional journals, including depreciation, insurance, amortization of prepaid expenses, administrative allocations, and revenue recognition
  • Prepare and coordinate intermediate level consolidated reconciliations and work with the necessary departments to identify issues and come to a resolution
  • Participate in the annual budgeting process
  • Analyze and input annual budget data for assigned branches, including staff review and existing expense trends
  • Prepare valid explanations of inconsistencies in budgeted data and existing trends
Qualifications:
  • Must have a bachelor's degree.
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years of demonstrated experience working in an accounting department.
  • Must have demonstrated proficiency in Excel and the ability to use complex pivots and functions.
  • Previously healthcare industry experience is preferred.
  • Must be well organized and detail oriented with a desire and ability to maintain excellent accounting records and documentation.
  • Must be self-motivated and possess a high standard of professional ethics.
  • Must have the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
