Senior Oracle DBA

A leading utility provider located in New York, NY is looking for a Senior Oracle DBA (OMS/GIS) for a 12+ month contract.

This is a hybrid role in New York City.

Pay Rate Range: $65.00 - $75.00

Required Skills & Experience:

• Experience managing Geographic Information Systems (ArcGis, MapInfo, Oracle Spatial)
• Proficiency in SAP, Oracle Applications, Oracle Fusion Middleware, MySQL, DB2, and SQL Server
• 3+ years of experience creating stored procedures in SQL
• Advanced SQL development skills using Oracle SQL Developer
• Backend database management experience
• Proficiency in optimal Oracle database design
• Senior-level experience as a Database Administrator

• Support Oracle OMS and eSRI based GIS Environment & Databases:
• Handle OMS and GIS-related Linux/Windows server requests according to client standards.
• Monitor and optimize performance of all ArcGIS/ArcFM Environments.
• Maintain sync jobs and report failures to Application PoCs.
• Assist in Build deployments.
• Maintain configuration stores.
• Provide ongoing database maintenance, including optimization for specific applications.
• Update database software as necessary.
• Perform SDE compressions and rebuild indexes.
• Manage growth, scalability, tasks, and schedules.
• Handle data synchronization and replication.
• Maintain current editing workflows and version architecture.
• Manage enterprise geospatial data models for Gas and Electric (versioned and non-versioned datasets).
• Maintain Esri ArcGIS Enterprise (10.6.1) and planned migrations.
• Install, configure, upgrade, and manage GIS (ESRI's AcrSDE, ArcFM, ArcIMS applications on Windows and Unix servers.
• Create and manage ArcGIS user accounts, instances, services, and permissions.
• Design and manage SDE-Oracle database storage according to vendors recommended best practices. Configure dbtune file for Arcsde.
• Design and deploy disaster recovery plan for SDE servers, and Oracle databases using combinations of RMAN, export/import, Data Pump, Online, and cold backups.
• Implement Oracle Transparent Application Failure (TAF) with failover and load balancing capabilities for SDE-Database.
• Script and schedule Shell Scripts and batch scripts for monitoring SDE on SQL Server and Oracle database.
• Keep up with the latest SDE releases by performing server upgrades, installing patches and service packs when necessary.
• Set up SDE multi-user editing database, perform database compressions, and re-orgs after editing. Scripted an upload process that refreshes the test SDE, and Oracle database environments to the production environment after versioning.
• Install, update, and manage FlexLM single user and multi-user license files.
• Update spatial metadata view with Dimensional Information about Geometrics.
• Create Spatial indexes, Parallel Spatial Indexes, Partitioned Spatial Indexes.
• Provide support for version activities and perform database reorgs to improve database performance.
• Install and configure Oracle Application server, OC4J, and mapview for Oracle Spatial.
• Troubleshoot, research, and resolution of complex database and application problems by closely monitoring and tuning database performance issues for SQL Server and Oracle databases on Unix and Windows operating systems.
• Perform SDE database/repository for SQL Server and Oracle.
• Monitor OS file system, I/O, CPU, SWAP, memory, and network utilizations on UNIX and Windows 2000 and ensure efficient use of disk storage, reclaim dead space, optimize space allocation, and avoid out-of-space conditions.
• Implement and maintain Oracle partitioning to distribute file system I/O, data archiving, and database performance.
• Perform server consolidation of over 5T from Solaris 10 to Linux.
• Write PL/SQL programs to automate database maintenance activities.
• Review the physical model created from the logical model, ensuring the detailed physical design and data structures and databases comply with standards, guidelines, and procedure recommended for all aspects of data modeling, database design, and maintenance.
• Assist developers in performing functional, unit, and integration testing of applications.
• Configure, deploy, and manage backup and recovery strategies using RMAN, shell scripts, and Tivoli.
• Database security Management, session management, set up database system, session, and statement auditing strategies, creating, and administering database users, roles, privileges, and profiles to ensure compliance with corporate security and control standards, and SOX Act.
• Perform database re-orgs and index rebuilds to reclaim space and optimize database performance.
• Perform documentation, tracking, analysis, development, and validation of functional requirements and database design in a client/Server environment.
• Refresh Oracle databases and applications from one environment to another.
• Perform information gathering and documenting business rules, change management, and integration-related issues.
• Load spatial (Points, Lines and Polygons) and non-spatial data using inserts, SQL Loader, import & Export, Data Pump, and Transportable Tablespace.
• Perform OS file system utilization monitoring, swap usage, CPU utilization, file I/O, and network tracing for Oracle.
• Develop, test, and deploy PLSQL programs for database automation activities.
• Cloning/Refreshing of SDE database from one environment to another.
• Database security Management, Session management. Perform object level, session, logon, and system-wide database audits of users to ensure user compliance with corporate security and controls standard, and SOX Act.
• Create and administer database users, roles, privileges, and profiles.
• Create and configure Hot Standby Database and Data Guard across multiple servers.
• Configure Oracle Names Server, and SQLNET for client connections to the database server.
• Develop, deploy, and maintain database backup/recovery environment (Cold and Hot) using RMAN, scripts and third-party tools.
• Respond quickly to refresh data; verify correct backup strategy; develop recovery procedures; support recovery from loss of data caused by user or system error.
• Perform application refreshes on request: Refresh data from one environment to another at the request of the application development staff; provide application development staff optimal development environment with current data.
• Provide database support to application developers, application support and production users.
• Perform Capacity planning and designs requirements for new databases on new/existing systems.
• Design and manage database security and audit procedures.
• Perform documentation, tracking, analysis, development, and validation of functional requirements and systems design.
• Create and manage stored procedures, functions, packages, triggers, views, tables, indexes, table partitions, partitioned indexes; synonyms, and db_links.
• Monitor OS file system, I/O, CPU, Swap, memory, and network utilizations.
• Manage a combination of small, medium-sized, and large-scale projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Database Administration in Microsoft SQL Server.
• Performance monitoring and tuning of OLTP/OLAP database server and databases in MS SQL Server.
