Description:

Our healthcare client is looking for a Sr. Oracle DBA on a 6 month contract for a migration to Exadata (OCI). The primary responsibility of the Oracle DBA will be to plan, design, and execute complex database migrations from one environment to another, such as from on-premises Exadata/AIX/VM platform to cloud preferable Oracle cloud and upgrading from an older version of Oracle to a newer one. The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing database requirements, creating migration plans, and working with stakeholders to ensure the migration is completed on time and within budget.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Oracle Database Administration: The Oracle Migration DBA will be responsible for managing all aspects of the Oracle database, including installation, configuration, backup and recovery, performance tuning, and security.
  • Migration Planning: The Oracle DBA will work closely with the project team to plan and execute the migration of Oracle databases from legacy systems to new platforms, ensuring that all databases are migrated on time and within budget.
  • Migration Execution: The Oracle DBA will be responsible for executing the migration of Oracle databases, including data mapping, data migration, and data validation.
  • Migration tools: Experience with Database migration service, Zero downtime migration tool, RMAN, Data Pump, and other migration tools.
  • DB upgrade and conversion: The Oracle DBA should be proficient in converting NON-CDB database to CDB as part of the migration.
  • Troubleshooting: The Oracle Migration DBA will be responsible for troubleshooting any issues that arise during the migration process, ensuring that any issues are resolved quickly and effectively.
  • Performance Tuning: The Oracle Migration DBA will be responsible for ensuring that all migrated databases are optimized for performance, including tuning SQL queries, optimizing storage, and configuring database parameters.
  • Monitoring Tools: Support OEM Cloud Control 13c install, setup and maintain Enterprise Manager (OEM) Cloud Control 13c. OCI cloud native monitoring services.
  • Documentation: The Oracle Migration DBA will be responsible for documenting all aspects of the migration process, including migration plans, test cases, and migration scripts.
  • Communication: The Oracle DBA will be responsible for communicating regularly with project managers, database developers, and other team members to ensure that all aspects of the migration process are coordinated and executed effectively.
  • Tools: ZDM, AWR, ADDM, Statspack, RMAN, SQL Loader, TOAD, SQL Developer, SQL, PL/SQL, Shell scripting

Qualifications:


• 10+ years Oracle Administration experience required


• Knowledge of Oracle database architecture, installation, configuration, backup and recovery, performance tuning, and security.


• Familiarity with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and Azure cloud platforms.


• Experience with Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools


• Experience with backups, restores, and recovery models


• Knowledge of Oracle MAA architecture, High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for Oracle


• Excellent written and verbal communication


• Ability to organize and plan work independently with strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot issues quickly.


• Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment


• Experience with Epic's Cogito modules (Caboodle, Clarity, related ETL administration tools)


• Experience with IT Service Management (ITIL and ITSM) is a plus


• Understanding of operations in a regulated industry preferably with experience address system requirements for Protected Health Information (PHI), or Personally Identifiable Information (PII).


• Sound customer service skills across all levels within an organization with an ability to communicate technical issues to non-technical users


• Knowledge of other databases such as SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and Cache DB is a plus.
