Description

The Employment and Guidance Specialist is responsible for working closely with the case management department to identify and support clients with education and employment goals. Creates individualized plans to address job readiness skills, remove barriers to employment and reach self-sufficiency. Connect individuals to education opportunities as well as finding and maintaining quality employment.

Team Support and Guidance

  • Assist in conducting intakes and assessments to determine program eligibility and employment and education needs in the prescribed time frame as dictated by grant and program requirements.
  • Assist eligible clients in setting goals and creating specialized plans including employment, career pathways and self-sufficiency goals as required by grant and program requirements.
  • Provide comprehensive career assessments to determine occupational interests and aptitude. Identify training and development needs, current level of vocational skills, employment history, interests, and abilities to assist jobseekers in understanding career options based on their career goals.
  • Educate clients on job search skills and industry trends to get them prepared for employment. Uses electronic and other resources to help customers make career and job search decisions. Directly assists jobseekers with resume development, simulated mock interviews, and developing successful job search strategies.
  • Connecting clients to education and workforce training for advancement opportunities
Data Tracking and Reporting
  • Utilize the agency's database to enter all intake assessments, track progress towards goals, case notes, and outcomes in a timely manner as dictated by program requirements.
  • Maintain appropriate case files to provide accurate and timely documentation following program guidelines and protecting confidential client information.
Professional Growth and Development
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings for supervision, team building and program planning
  • Participate in regular sessions to review cases, discuss employment strategy and monitor client progress
  • Participate in weekly staff meetings as determined by Workforce Program Director.??
  • Participate in YWCA functions as needed and requested by the Manager and/or Director.
  • Comply with all YWCA policies and procedures.

Salary: $45,000 per year
