Position Summary:

The Surface Preparation Specialist is responsible for preparing surfaces of metal or hard materials by removing unwanted elements such as scale, paint, grease, rust, and dirt to achieve a specified finish. This role involves the operation of machinery to dispense abrasives and the selection or preparation of paints to ensure accurate color matching. The candidate must demonstrate proficiency in pre- and post-painting preparation and utilize a power spray system effectively. Physical stamina is required, including the ability to lift items weighing up to 50 lbs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare surfaces by abrading metal or hard composition materials to eliminate contaminants and achieve desired finishes.
  • Load and manage abrasives like sand or grit into machinery for surface treatment.
  • Choose pre-mixed paints or accurately mix pigments, oils, and additives to create paints that meet specified color requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in product preparation before and after painting.
  • Ability to operate a power spray system.
  • Must successfully complete a Pulmonary Function Test (PFT) and be equipped to wear a respirator.
  • Physically fit and capable of lifting up to 50 lbs.
