Psychiatrist - RESPONSIBILITIES (listed are included but not limited to)

The Psychiatrist conducts face-to-face interviews with mentally ill inmate-youths for crisis help. Assess them in their cells, which may require climbing stairs and walking.

Perform initial mental health evaluations, including criminal, psychiatric, and substance abuse history, to understand their needs and plan treatment.

Assess suicide risk thoroughly, review records, and document findings.

Prescribe medication as needed, following guidelines.

Interpret lab results and refer to medical services if needed.

The Psychiatrist modifies treatment plans based on progress.

Build relationships with families for better treatment outcomes.

Be available on-call for emergencies.

Maintain order and prevent escapes or injuries.

The Psychiatrist follows safety protocols to prevent injuries or exposures.

Psychiatrist - REQUIREMENTS

Must have an MD/DO degree.

Must have a minimum of twelve continuous months of experience within the last three years, performing services similar in scope to those defined herein. Internships do not count toward the required experience.

Must have a full, unrestricted license to practice in the state of California.
