QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Experience:
Minimum of two years of clinical experience in an emergency care setting, ICU, PICU etc...
Current Texas Registered Nurse license (in good standing, without disciplinary actions or investigation).
Currently certified in BLS/PALS/ACLS
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide direct patient care, evaluate outcomes, and adjust nursing care processes as indicated to ensure optimal patient care.
Perform a head-to-toe assessment on all patients and reassessment as per policy. (Pediatric, adolescent and geriatric patients and the general patient population).
Use triage process to ensure timely and appropriate care to patients.
Assess and reassess pain. Utilize appropriate pain management techniques. Educate patient and family regarding pain management.
Monitor hemodynamic status of patient and correctly interpret the results.
Identify dysrhythmias and treat appropriately.
Perform waived lab testing in accordance with laboratory policies and procedures.
Interpret the results of waived lab tests; take appropriate action on results.
Ensure correct medication administration based on age of the patient and his/her clinical condition.
Prepare, hang, monitor and discontinue IV fluids.
Prepare, administer, monitor and discontinue respiratory treatments.
Maintain accurate and continued nursing documentation including patient histories, conditions, treatments, responses and assessment of changes.
Assist physicians with procedures.
Communicate with Emergency Physicians about changes in patient’s status, symptomatology, and results of diagnostic studies.
Formulate a teaching plan based on identified learning needs and evaluate effectiveness of learning; includes family in teaching, as appropriate.
Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
