Job Summary:
The New Product Estimating Engineer is responsible for estimating new opportunities provided by the Commercial Director. New opportunities typically comprise of laser processing, micromachining, Swiss turning and/or sub-assembly requests. Duties include interacting with New Product Development Engineers, working with suppliers to source various goods, and Sales Engineers. The Estimating Engineer will work closely with other departments during the quoting process to ensure accuracy.
Representative Responsibilities:
- Review of quotes and manufacturing concepts are necessary.
- Create cost models and prepared detailed project proposals
- Reading and interpreting part prints, specifications and process needs.
- Interaction with New Product engineers, suppliers, and customers.
- Gathering project-related data from various sources (vendors, engineering department, quality department, etc.), including supplier and vendor quotes for accurate cost estimates.
- Determination of method of manufacturing, or possible alternative, is common.
- Reviewing new sales opportunities with Commercial Director and Sales team will occur frequently.
- Regular, reliable onsite attendance is required.
Requirements
Desired Skills, Talent, and Qualifications:
•Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
•Knowledge of SolidWorks or comparable solid modeling CAD program is preferred.
•Highly self-motivated.
•Ability to multi-task in an energetic environment.
•Skill in performing detailed numerical computations and reports.
•Skill in both verbal and written communication.
Training and Experience:
•Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related field is required.
•Three+ years of experience in a precision manufacturing environment.
•3D CAD experience, SOLIDWORKS preferred.
•Experience with data analysis.
•Ability to understand and interpret technical drawings
•Basic understanding of tolerancing and GD&T
•Experience Developing production plans/ routings/ BOMs
