Job Summary:

The New Product Estimating Engineer is responsible for estimating new opportunities provided by the Commercial Director. This role involves interacting with New Product Development Engineers, working with suppliers to source various goods, and Sales Engineers. The Estimating Engineer will work closely with other departments during the quoting process to ensure accuracy.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review quotes and manufacturing concepts to ensure accuracy.
  • Create cost models and prepare detailed project proposals.
  • Read and interpret part prints, specifications, and process needs.
  • Interact with New Product engineers, suppliers, and customers.
  • Gather project-related data from various sources, including supplier and vendor quotes for accurate cost estimates.
  • Determine the method of manufacturing or possible alternatives.
  • Review new sales opportunities with the Commercial Director and Sales team.
Requirements:
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of SolidWorks or a comparable solid modeling CAD program.
  • Highly self-motivated.
  • Ability to multi-task in an energetic environment.
  • Skill in performing detailed numerical computations and reports.
  • Skill in both verbal and written communication.
Training and Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Three+ years of experience in a precision manufacturing environment.
  • 3D CAD experience, SOLIDWORKS preferred.
  • Experience with data analysis.
  • Ability to understand and interpret technical drawings.
  • Basic understanding of tolerancing and GD&T.
  • Experience developing production plans, routings, and BOMs.
