Job Responsibilities

  • Compensation (Range): / hour: Salary: 36-43 HR
  • Responsible for running an engine in a variety of different test cells to test the engines. 20 or so different tests they call "standard work" that they would run for a particular engine.
  • They will be managing an engine and the engine will be going through different calibrations, coordinating manual tasks or test automation tasks. Working with engine in the dyno cells, some of the testing is more automated on a script. Runs through a procedure on its own. Overseeing the pallet build of the engine, review all hardware, making sure it meets the needs of that engine.
  • Familiar with various type of instrumentation to make sure the engine is set up correctly for that test that is going to be ran.
  • Working with a set of technicians that do the physical work, this person will be involved heavily with the build of the engine. Also working with test automation engineers and technicians (cell techs and pallet build techs), working with lab engineers if they are having issues with the systems at the test cell this is who they will work with. Work with vehicle calibration engineers, these are offsite workers. Interfacing lead propulsion engineer. Working with a lot of different people.
  • Laboratory Testing Facility, PPE requirements to be on site and access areas of the facility
  • This is a new technology, they figure out how to control this type of technology, doing all of the development work.

Job Requirements

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science
  • Bachelors Degree Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering are the top two and will stand out
  • At least 2 years experience with engine controls and calibration
  • Familiarity with working in a lab environment (e.g. safety, instrumentation, troubleshooting)
  • Familiarity with data post processing (e.g. data review, identify good vs. bad data, presenting results effectively)
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in automotive engineering with engine knowledge
  • Experience with AVL PUMA/IndiCom/CAMEO and ETAS INCA software
  • Demonstrated Drive for Results
  • Excellent Planning and Problem-Solving skills
  • High level of oral and written communication skills
  • High level of interpersonal skills to work independently and effectively with others, and ability to establish Peer Relationships.
  • Ability to prioritize work and resource, and work independently with minimal direction
  • Proficient with computer and data acquisition system
  • Experience in data analysis to optimize testing or model results
  • Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Exposure to propulsion system calibration in test and vehicle environment
  • Knowledge and 2-5 years experience with Engine testing, calibration, or hardware development
  • Experience with Engine dyno setup and testing
  • Familiarity with government test cycles (e.g., FTP, US06, WLTP, RDE)
