Function

A Loan Officer is a Lending Professional who has the ability to listen, respond, persuade and think independently to provide Citadel Class Service to our members and our dealer clients in a fast paced environment. They possess the ability to analyze information from multiple sources to perform an evaluation of each borrower and the structure of an automobile loan request. They are responsible for reviewing loan applications and rendering an appropriate credit decision.

The Auto Loan Officer must have an extensive knowledge of all aspects and auxiliary products that comprise of an auto loan transaction. They must be able to explain and sell Citadel Credit Union Products and Services. They must have superior analytical and decision-making skills to effectively underwrite automobile loans for Citadel in either a direct member or indirect dealer transaction. They must ensure that credit decisions stay in compliance with state laws and regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Process and decision applications submitted for review on auto loans within proper lending authority
  • Receive and discuss all inquiries from borrowers and or dealers as to the status of the loan to include rates, terms or special circumstances surrounding the loan application
  • Has a thorough knowledge of all underwriting guidelines for both direct and indirect submitted auto loan applications
  • Has a thorough knowledge of all Car Valuation guides to include, NADA, Kelly Blue Book, New Car Cost Guide and others as necessary
  • Form and maintain a professional working relationship with the dealer network and intercompany staff to provide Citadel Class Service
  • Has a complete understanding and from time to time is able to handle the funding/booking process of the loan upon submission of a completed contract.
  • Flexible with regard to working hours or extended working hours to include Saturday's and possibly Sunday's
  • Provide information concerning policies, rates, and other loan related information to internal/external members and dealer partners.
  • Other duties as required or requested
Qualifications and Education Requirements

Work Experience
  • 2 years of consumer lending underwriting or similar financial institution or retail experience.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office
  • Must have good communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Must be sales focused
  • A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact.
  • Work involves extensive personal contact with others and/or is usually of a personal or sensitive nature.
Education
  • High School Diploma or equivalent, College Degree preferred
