The HR Generalist provides front line, hands on support in recruitment, employee relations and a strong knowledge of Safety. Responsible for the assigned human resource functions including benefits, workers compensation, payroll and administrative support of day-to-day Human Resources operations and coordination of HR functions with managers and supervisors to ensure consistency of policies and procedures. _:Position Accountabilities include, but are not limited to:
- Recruit for open positions using a variety of recruiting methods approved by management.
- Screen and interview potential hourly candidates ensuring the federal and state regulations are met.
- Schedule and process background checks, physicals, and assessments for job applicants, communicating results to HR Manager, Supervisors and Managers for final hiring decision.
- Serve as coordinator for Workers Compensation injuries and illness communicating at all stages with the HR Manager. Process paperwork, notify insurance companies with First Report of Injury, maintain OSHA reports and ensure compliance with all OSHA safety rules, contact and follow up with nurse case managers for more serious injuries, track injuries by type and department and lost time and work restrictions.
- NYS PFL, FMLA, NYS DBL, and any other Leave of Absence.
- Track hourly performance evaluations ensuring these are handled timely.
- Conduct Benefit Orientations and review completed paperwork to ensure timely and accurate processing.
- Comprehend payroll operations, processes and procedures and verify weekly payroll is processed accurately and hourly wage increases.
- Participates in the safety committee, documents committee activities.
- Assists managers and supervisors with employee relations issues.
- Communicate, implement and interpret HR policies and practices to ensure fair and consistent administration.
- Maintains bulletin boards.
? Provide support to the Human Resources Manager and cover as backup in his/her absence.

Requirements/Qualifications:
High school education or equivalent. Bachelor Degree, Associate degree or PHR certification is a plus.

Three to four years related experience
Must be proficient in Excel, Word, Outlook and the Internet. Familiar with PowerPoint.
Familiar with office equipment such as personal computer, copier, fax, multi-line phones, etc.
Able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with employees and the general public; able to maintain confidentiality in daily operations; able to assess situations and make decisions using facts and knowledge of HR laws and regulations; and able to conduct daily duties both professionally and accurately.
Must be familiar with current laws and regulations regarding employers and employees rights and privileges, and be able to reconcile differences between employees and their supervisors.
Must be familiar with OSHA standards and work-related injury protocol.
