Job DescriptionUnder general maintenance supervision, the Plant Engineer performs planning of repairs, maintenance of equipment and projects as effectively and economically as possible while being consistent with plant policies, practices and procedures. The person in this position will constantly drive to maximize plant availability. This teammate will need the ability to work in a team setting or independently on projects that will ensure the division reaches its goals. Tasks & Responsibilities: Knows, understands, and follows all safety and environmental policies, procedures and requirements. Assists with the development of SOPs in collaboration with department and unit managers. Monitors plant and equipment to ensure optimal operation to reduce unplanned downtime. Collaborate with departments and unit managers to coordinate 3rd party services. Monitor the coordination of maintenance and project work by contractors during planned turnarounds. Provides updated equipment manuals and drawings for maintenance document control. Collaborate with departments and unit managers to adhere to cost controlling and budgetary responsibility Initiates and drives Continuous Improvement (CI) with the aim of achieving optimized plant performance. Defines and audits spare part inventory needs in collaboration with units and procurement departments Performs RCA for failures in plant equipment. Corrects any issues relating to design of plant equipment and debottlenecking. Manages multiple CAPEX projects in a timely, safe, and cost-effective manner to improve unit and plant operations Prepares specifications, drawings, bid packages, quotation analyses, and other applicable documents for purchase, construction, and/or repair of plant equipment. Identifies & utilizes resources for technical/engineering support, i.e., process engineering, reliability engineering, inspection, etc. Provides engineering support for daily operations Supports and mentors through knowledge sharing and training to enhance team-members' technical skills Performs other duties assigned as needed Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in engineering or related field Minimum of 3 years of working knowledge in maintenance experience in an industrial environment Experience in DRI, HBI plant or metal & mining processes is preferred Working knowledge of regulatory codes and standards Experience in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics and process flow diagrams Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, & PowerPoint) Experience in Autocad (CAD) Must have the ability to effectively communicate in English, verbally and in writing. Skills will be used to produce quality reports and thorough instructions and directions. Must be able to walk long distances and stand and work for more than 2 hours in tough environmental conditions (high temperature, high humidity, noise, & dust), and withstand heights of up to 500 feet. Must have reliable transportation to and from job site. Must have or be able to obtain a TWIC-card.
