The Empowered Communities of Practice (CoP) is an inclusive and dynamic initiative that seamlessly integrates professionals, experts, and community members dedicated to public health. Through a blend of virtual collaboration, workforce training, experiential learning, and mentorship, our aim is to leverage collective intelligence and passion, creating transformative solutions and impactful changes in our sectors.

Our mission is to ignite innovation, drive knowledge dissemination, and promote personal and professional growth through holistic, multi-modal engagement platforms.

The CONNECT Program is a flagship initiative of the Empowered CoP, blending both virtual and in-person engagements. Through webinars, forums, workshops, and more, CONNECT endeavors to facilitate continuous digital and face-to-face collaboration, fostering a sense of community and synergized learning among its members.

About the Position:

The Health Communications Manager holds a pivotal leadership role in the Empowered CoP, responsible for planning, launching, and guiding the CONNECT Program. With the support of the Graduate Professional Assistant (GPA), this individual will shape the program's narrative, ensuring alignment with community needs and promoting a culture of continuous learning. This position interfaces with various stakeholders, ensuring the program's activities resonate with the community's objectives and values, thereby driving engagement and knowledge exchange.

Responsibilities:

Program Management:

Provide overarching leadership for the CONNECT program, ensuring cohesion between virtual and in-person engagements; and

Direct the Graduate Professional Assistant (GPA) in specific tasks, ensuring efficiency and alignment with the program's objectives.

Content Creation:

Lead the strategy and development of health-related content across various platforms; and

Guide and review content produced or curated by the GPA, ensuring it meets the desired quality and relevance standards.

Community Engagement:

Cultivate and sustain foundational relationships with key community stakeholders; and

Supervise the GPA in engagement tasks, ensuring the cultivation of relationships and efficient communication with community members.

Performance Metrics & Feedback Analysis:

Define and monitor key performance indicators, ensuring that program initiatives meet their objectives; and

Direct the GPA in data collection and preliminary analysis, providing insights to inform program strategies.

Event Coordination:

Spearhead the planning and execution of major program events, ensuring alignment with community objectives; and

Delegate logistical responsibilities to the GPA, ensuring events run smoothly from inception to follow-up.

Team Collaboration:

Serve as the key liaison between the CONNECT Program and other Empowered Communities teams; and

Mentor and guide the team, ensuring they integrate well with the broader team and contribute effectively.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in health communications, public relations, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience;

Experience in health communication, event coordination, or community management;

Demonstrated experience in in digital platforms, updating content, monitoring discussions, and facilitating member engagement;

Experience in managing and mentoring junior staff or interns; and

Experience overseeing complex projects with multiple stakeholders.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Comprehensive grasp of health communication strategies;

Proficiency in digital platforms and tools for virtual collaborations;

Familiarity with the dynamics of community-based program management;

Exceptional leadership skills, emphasizing delegation, mentorship, and team coordination;

Strong analytical acumen for assessing program efficiency and driving improvements; and

Advanced communication skills tailored for diverse audiences.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree in a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience;

Experience working within a Community of Practice or similar collaborative environments;

Experience organizing webinars, workshops, conferences, or other events is desirable; and

Leadership experience or demonstrated ability to guide cross-functional teams.
