Position Overview: Starr Insurance Companies is seeking a talented and dynamic Underwriter to join our team, specializing in financial lines insurance products. This role will focus on underwriting private, public, and not-for-profit product lines, offering an exciting opportunity to contribute to our continued success and growth.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate and underwrite financial lines insurance applications for private, public, and not-for-profit organizations in accordance with Starr's underwriting guidelines and standards. Conduct comprehensive risk assessments, including financial analysis and industry research, to determine appropriate coverage and pricing.
  • Collaborate closely with brokers and clients to understand their insurance needs and provide tailored solutions and advice.
  • Monitor and manage a portfolio of accounts, ensuring profitability and adherence to underwriting policies and procedures.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and market developments impacting financial lines insurance.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners to facilitate efficient underwriting processes and superior client service.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, business, or a related field; professional certifications such as CPCU, CIC, or similar credentials are preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in underwriting financial lines insurance products, with a focus on private, public, and not-for-profit sectors.
  • Exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to assess complex risks and make informed underwriting decisions.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in underwriting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment while maintaining a commitment to excellence and integrity.
