**The Operations Specialist (Transportation Operations Center)**

* Serves as a watch officer in the Department of Transportations Operations Center (TOC).

* Participates in developing and supporting partnerships with communities of interest including the intelligence and law enforcement communities and other critical Federal, State, and Local, and private organizations for outreach and awareness, information sharing, and protective action measures.

* Monitors and analyzes the status of the National Transportation System, reporting incidents, accidents or threats to the systems integrity and evaluates the potential impacts these events may have on the transportation infrastructure that could lead to critical events and crisis/emergency situations.

* Coordinates events and emergency situations with Departments and Agencies of Federal, State, and Local government; assuring exchange is consistently and continuously executed to share information and operational awareness.

* Exercises responsibility for obtaining information from a wide variety of communications equipment including e-mail, telephone, fax, secure fax, high frequency radio, and satellite phone.

**CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:**
