Department Description The Department of Dermatology, School of Medicine, offers a broad range of patient care, teaching, research, and public service responsibilities. The Department provides medical students, residents, and post-doctoral fellows in the School of Medicine, with programs in research, patient care, teaching, and public service. The Department is comprised of four distinct clinical sub-units located at the Ambulatory Care Center, San Francisco General Hospital, Mount Zion, Mission Bay, and the Veteran's Administration Medical Center and consists of 45 full-time faculty, 40 researchers, 40 staff, 13 residents, and 6 clinical fellows. These operations are administered through various sites, interdependent sub-units, which are coordinated through a centralized Administrative Core. The incumbent will provide operational and financial support to faculty, trainees, and staff. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training. Minimum of 3 years of directly related experience. Prior experience in an academic setting. Medical Administrative Assistant Certification. Familiarity with UCPath, Bear Buy, PeopleSoft, MyExpense, HBS, Archibus. Thorough knowledge of University rules and regulations, processes, protocols, and procedures for budget, accounting, and fund management, and/or personnel management. Interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication, active listening, critical thinking, persuasiveness, advising, and counseling skills. Knowledge of various administrative operational activities such as event planning, basic fundraising processes, risk management planning, website design, accounting and payroll, and contracts and grants regulations and guidelines. Solid knowledge of common University-specific computer application programs. Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality. Strong skills in short-term planning, analysis, problem-solving, and customer service. Thorough knowledge of financial analysis and reporting techniques, and/or human resources policies and procedures for staff and academic employees. Working knowledge of financial processes, policies, and procedures. Strong knowledge of financial data management and reporting systems. Ability to adapt to changing priorities. Intermediate knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources.
