Job Description and Duties THIS IS A STATEWIDE RECRUITMENT. This vacancy is being advertised in Contra Costa County and Sacramento County. The position’s headquarters will be in the county nearest to the selected candidate’s residence. This position supports the California Department of Public Health’s (CDPH) mission and strategic plan by leading CDPH’s role in the management of epidemiology, modeling, and surveillance activities during the COVID-19 pandemic in California. The Research Scientist III (RS III) will provide expert epidemiologic and statistical support for the coordination, analysis, and surveillance of COVID-19 genomic data. The RS III is responsible for leading the technical assistance and day-to-day functions, as well as designing and implementing new analyses for COVID-19 genomic surveillance. The RS III has direct responsibility, in collaboration with other CDPH teams, to analyze, interpret, and disseminate whole genome sequencing information to internal and external stakeholders.
