Job Description

The System Offices is one of several system members within the Texas A&M University System representing one of the largest systems of higher education in the nation, with a network of 11 universities, a comprehensive health science center, eight state agencies, and the RELLIS Campus. Job Description Summary:

Provide accounting oversight to the System Office and Shared Services departments and management reporting information. Assist with the preparation of the Annual Financial Report (AFR) and the Facilities and Administrative (F&A) cost rate proposals.

Responsibilities:

- Assist with account and department setup and maintenance.
- Act as backup for the Assistant Director of Accounting for monthly reconciliations, journal entries and equity transfers.
- Review System Office and Shared Services account balances monthly.
- Assist the Director of Accounting with the System Office and Shared Services monthly AFR review.
- Prepare and analyze management reports for System Offices.
- Special projects for System Office and Shared Services as needed.
- Prepare and coordinate State and Federal pass-through confirmations at year end for System Office and Shared Services.
- Prepare the annual Schedule of Expenditures of Federal Awards (SEFA) and State Pass-Through Reporting (SPTR) for the System Office and Shared Services.
- Prepare the annual NSF report for the System Office.
- Assist with the preparation of the System Office, Shared Services and Texas A&M System Combined Annual Financial Reports (AFR).
- Assist with the review of the AFR of each A&M System member.
- Assist with the preparation of the Facilities and Administrative (F&A) cost rate proposals for The Texas A&M University System (combined rate for College Station-based A&M System members) and Prairie View A&M University. Work with members on the short form F&A Proposals. Assist with negotiation with the federal Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS).
- Attend and participate in meetings, conferences and training sessions with management and staff members. Work with and assist other team members by sharing information, presenting ideas and concerns, and asking questions.
- Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

- Bachelor's degree in business field or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.

- Six years in accounting field.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong verbal and interpersonal skills.
- Skills in word processing, spreadsheet, database and other software.
- Ability to analyze and summarize financial information.
- Ability to handle confidential and/or time sensitive matters.

- Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Working knowledge of FAMIS/Canopy, Business Objects, AggieBuy, e-Builder.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
