ME is a large department with more than 850 undergraduate students and around 600 graduate students; plus 68 tenured and tenure-track faculty, 19 research faculty and lecturers, and 55 staff. The ASO provides student and faculty support for the administrative aspects of our students' curricular and co-curricular experiences. We also support students' wellbeing with appreciative advising practices, referrals to campus and community resources. Administration (40%): Build and implement a forward-thinking vision for ME's career readiness and professional development efforts, ensuring alignment with CoE's and UM's overarching mission. Assist with the updating of existing marketing materials and/or development of new materials Identify new opportunities and cultivate relationships with potential employers Lead or co-lead the implementation of career education (knowledge and skill-building) including workshops, panel discussions, and via e-learning/media Stay abreast of career development, talent mobility, and recruitment best practices through active reading, research and professional relationships and networking Establish mechanisms to measure ROI of career readiness and professional development efforts; provide periodic updates to ME faculty and leadership Programming (30%): Lead the design and delivery of professional development and career-related workshops, programs, and panels Coordinate opportunities for industry to interact with and recruit ME students Help students develop and refine resume writing, interviewing, and job-search skills Design programs and/or assist in implementation of strategies that develop soft skills and corporate-desired traits of ME students Manage or lead various special projects/programs that provide career-related support or strategic initiatives to address the needs of special constituencies. Engagement (30%): Support ME recruitment of undeclared students by marketing and highlighting the broad scope of ME applicability Identify and expand opportunities with corporate partners of 450 course Serve as a professional development liaison to student groups, clubs, and organizations Assist students in clarifying professional development and career goals Cultivate and increase engagement of alumni and industry relationships Collaborate with other CoE departments to explore and promote intersectionality of career paths and cross-sector collaboration Identify opportunities to inform K-12 institutions and partners on the career aspects and sector breadth of ME Required Qualifications*
