Job purpose

The Learning and Development Manager is responsible for spearheading the organization's learning and development initiatives by providing strategic direction and oversight. This role involves leading and managing the comprehensive planning, implementation, and optimization of the learning management system. The manager designs and delivers effective training programs that enhance employee skills and support organizational goals. Ensuring regulatory compliance and maintaining high standards of quality assurance are critical components of this role. Additionally, the manager measures and reports on overall training performance, leveraging data to drive continuous improvement. Success in this role is achieved through proactive stakeholder engagement and collaboration, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development within the organization.

Key duties and responsibilities

LMA

  • Leading:
  1. Setting Vision and Direction: Leaders play a crucial role in translating IMMY's vision into actionable strategies for their teams. They communicate the broader objectives and goals, ensuring team members understand and are aligned with the organizational vision.
  2. Motivating and Inspiring : Effective managers inspire and motivate their teams, fostering a sense of purpose and belonging within the company. They encourage professional growth, set clear expectations, and lead by example to achieve the desired results.
  3. Change Advocacy : Leaders must not only anticipate change but also champion it. This involves being forward-thinking and proactive in addressing industry shifts, technological advancements, and market dynamics.
  • Managing:
  1. Planning and Organizing : Managers are responsible for organizing and planning tasks and projects. This involves breaking down larger goals into achievable tasks, setting timelines, and allocating resources effectively.
  2. Empowerment and Delegating : Effective managers empower their team members by delegating authority and responsibility. This empowerment allows employees to make decisions, take risks, and contribute creatively to the organization's objectives. They oversee the progress, provide guidance, and ensure that tasks are completed efficiently.
  3. Effective Communication : Managers need to communicate clearly and effectively to ensure that everyone understands their roles and responsibilities.
  • Accountability:
  1. Setting expectations : Managers establish clear expectations for their team members. They communicate what needs to be accomplished, outlining roles, responsibilities, and performance standards.
  2. Monitoring Progress and Performance : Holding individuals accountable involves regular monitoring of progress and performance. Managers track performance against objectives, provide feedback, and address any issues that may hinder success.
  3. Recognition and Feedback : Effective managers provide constructive feedback and recognition for good performance. They acknowledge achievements, support professional development, and address any underperformance through coaching or corrective actions.


Strategic Learning and Development Planning
  • Develop and implement the company's learning and development strategy in alignment with business goals/needs and regulatory requirements specific to the biotechnology/medical device industry.
  • Identify training needs and skill gaps in collaboration with department heads and senior leadership.
Management and Optimization of the Learning Management System (LMS)
  • Oversee the administration, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the LMS to ensure it meets the needs of the organization.
  • Ensure the LMS is user-friendly, up-to-date, and integrated with other HR and organizational systems.
Design and Delivery of Training Programs
  • Design, develop, and deliver a variety of training programs, including technical, compliance, soft skills, and leadership development through consultation with stakeholders.
  • Utilize different instructional methods, such as e-learning, virtual classrooms, and in-person training, to accommodate diverse learning preferences.
Training Regulatory Compliance and Quality Assurance
  • Ensure all training programs comply with industry regulations and legal requirements.
  • Implement and maintain quality assurance processes to ensure training effectiveness and adherence to regulatory requirements.
Performance Measurement and Reporting
  • Establish metrics and KPIs to measure the effectiveness of the training programs and their impact on employee performance and organizational goals.
  • Prepare and present reports to senior management on training outcomes, compliance status, and ROI of L&D initiatives.
Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts, department heads, and external vendors to develop and deliver specialized training content.
  • Engage with employees to gather feedback and continuously improve the learning experience.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications include:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Psychology, or related field
  • Proven experience as an L&D Manager, Training Manager, or similar
  • Current knowledge of effective learning and development methods
  • Familiarity with e-learning platforms and practices
  • Experience in project management
  • Proficient in MS Office and Learning Management Systems (LMS)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications include:
  • Professional certification (e.g. CPTD) is a plus
