Our client has built a successful confectionary business poised for growth that has been operating for over a hundred years.

They are looking to bring on an experienced financial controller that can bring expertise in corporate accounting, financial reporting, risk management, and forecast preparation.

Manage and oversee all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, Tax Compliance, and Inventory Accounting along with oversight of timely month end account reconciliations, and the closing and financial reporting process, including the following:

Safeguard corporate assets and financial performance by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures

Monitor and confirm financial condition by monitoring spending, price and usage variances, conducting analysis of performance and balance sheet and income statement trends, and continually interacting with the other departments and functions within the business

Liaise with independent financial statement audit and tax preparers and provide them, in a timely manner, with supporting documentation and prepared by client data and audit support

Prepare budgets and forecasts in a timely manner including establishing preparation schedules, collecting, analyzing, and consolidating data required from the contributing departments

Support budget objectives by scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and working with the various departments to initiate corrective actions

Prepare and present timely monthly financials, EBITDA bridge, and variance analysis

Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting

Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax fillings

Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls

Supervise and mentor accounting staff of one with anticipated increase in staff in the future

Oversee monthly and annual inventory counts

Additional Controller duties, as necessary

Position Qualifications:

Proven experience as a Financial Controller

5+ years overall combined accounting and finance experience

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance

CPA preferred

Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures

Strong knowledge of US GAAP

Experience with creating and consolidation of financial statements

Experience with general ledger functions and month-end/year-end close process

Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities

Experience with one or more sophisticated ERP systems and MS Excel
