Civil Project Engineer

Description:
Client is seeking multiple Civil Project/Design Engineer. This position reports directly to the Detroit Market Lead. They have have 3 different local metro Detroit offices, and this position could sit out of any of them, preference is to sit out of their new Detroit location. They have a hybrid work schedule (3 days in office, 2 days remote).
Will be performing design, engineering calculations, and reports, do site visits, support permit application, construction assistance, and evaluates land use and zoning requirements. Will use AutoCAD and Civil 3D daily for the design work .
DAY TO DAY DUTIES:
  • Lead or be a part of a team in the preparation of project drawings, calculations, and specifications.
  • Prepares engineering analysis, design, calculations, and reports, site visits, permit application, construction assistance, and evaluates land use and zoning requirements.
  • Works with dynamic design teams including the City of Detroit, Detroit utilities, owners/developer, architects, landscape architects, engineering trades, and contractors.
  • Assists in the preparation of proposals and fee estimates for potential projects.
  • Represents the firm at networking events, conference, public meetings, and within the community
For the Detroit team, they focus mixed-use urban infill, sustainable design, and stormwater best management practices. The ideal candidate for that office is passionate about the advancement of the City of Detroit, experienced with the unique requirements of design and permitting within an urban context, and demonstrates strong leadership and communication skills due to the small team dynamic and team collaboration.

MUST HAVES:
  • Bachelors in Civil Engineering
  • 3 plus years of experience in Civil Site Development design
  • Civil 3D Design skills
  • Experience designing grading, drainage, utilities, sanitary/sewer, etc.
  • EIT or PE license
BONUS:
  • Urban planning/design experience
  • City of Detroit project experience
  • Masters degree
  • SWMM experience
