The Development Officer is a full-time position that reports to the Deputy Vice President, Events & Production (DVP). The Development Officer will work closely with the Director, Donor Relations, and other members of the Development team including ICFJ’s Senior Vice President, Development (SVP). Department : Development Reports to : Deputy VP, Events & Production Salary : Starting at $54,500 Employment type : Full-time This position provides: Donoracknowledgement,withsupportforstewardship,outreachandengagement Eventlogistics Donor research Paramount to this position are proven organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to multitask, while maintaining a clear view of how each project supports the organization’s mission and fundraising efforts. The Officer will also assist the DVP in ensuring the smooth operation of in-person events, providing a supporting role in coordinating the logistics of ICFJ’s annual Tribute to Journalists, as well as other ICFJ fundraising and cultivation events. This position will also help design and implement other donor outreach efforts, including online fundraising campaigns and event-based mobile giving. Responsibilities

Schedule the Development team’s weekly meetings and produce meeting agendas. Manage the Development team’s calendar to ensure all team members are aware of upcoming deadlines. Coordinate the Development team’s contributions to monthly Development Cabinet meetings with the New Initiatives team and other ICFJ departments. Coordinate the Development team’s general operating support proposal and tracking process and research to find additional avenues for general operating support. ManageICFJ’sdonorrecognitionprogram,throughadherencetoinformationtracking processes regarding acknowledgement, recognition, ongoing communications and continued cultivation of past and current donors. Workcreativelyandcollaboratively,throughnewinitiativesandsolutions,toenhance donor relationships with ICFJ and increase the likelihood of continued contributions. WorkwiththeDVP and Director, of Donor Relationstoimplementsolicitationandyear-round engagement plans to retain current donors and attract new donors. SupporttheSVPandDVPintheirfundraisingandcultivation activities, including the It Takes a journalist campaign and the annual Tribute to Journalists. ManagetheICFJdonordatabase,ensuringtheaccuracyofdataanditssmoothoperation; organize and maintain accurate database files and records; and generate Salesforce reports(sponsors,majordonors,individuals,lapseddonors,etc.) Work with ICFJ’s communications team on Development communications tasks including, but not limited to Mail Chimp appeals and ICFJ’s annual report. AssisttheDVPinthecoordinationofeventlogisticswithaneyeon quality donor engagement, from a proper compilation of invitation lists, ticket process oversight, sponsor benefits management, seating charts, and onsite guest registration. Collaboratewithexternaleventscompaniesandothervendorstoensureseamless integration of event logistics. Conduct prospect research for the DVP, SVP, President and other members of senior leadership, as appropriate. HighenergyandpassionforICFJ’smissionofmobilizingprivatesupportforgreat journalism and journalists Excellentwrittenandoralcommunicationskills;abilitytoinfluenceandengagea diverse range of audiences including board members, senior leadership, donors, executives and potential funding partners. Goodunderstandingofphilanthropy,andaworkingknowledgeofthefundamental disciplines of fundraising and development. Strongattention to detail andorganizationalandprojectmanagementskills. Experiencewithmajorevent management is a plus. Aprofessionalandresourcefulstyle:Theabilitytoworkindependentlyandaspartofa team; detail-oriented, well-organized, focused and goal-oriented, with a high level of initiative and energy, as well as problem-solving skills. Requirements

Associatedegree or higher,preferablyinJournalism,English,History,Communications,or Marketing Two-to-threeyearsofprofessionalexperienceinnonprofitorganizations;demonstrated success in forging relationships with multiple donors. PriorexperienceindatabasemanagementaswellasknowledgeofCRMdatabase required; Salesforce experience preferred, but other database experience accepted. Basicwebdevelopmentskills.
