The mission of the department is to provide pastoral care, spiritual assessment, healing comfort in illness, information and assistance with issues related to beginning and end of life, trauma, and death.A caregiver in this position works8:00AM - 5:00PM. Responsibilities:Directs department staff in the development and implementation of annual goals and objectives to fulfill the mission of the Department.Supervises the staff of the Department in accordance with all CC policies, and performs annual performance reviews, if appropriate.Develops effective professional interdisciplinary relationships with physicians, nurses, social workers, and other clinical personnel, to integrate spiritual care with the other clinical disciplines for the best possible patient care.Develops operating and capital budgets for the department and manages the use of resources with cost effectiveness, developing alternate forms of support through donations, bequests, etc.Develops, implements, and revises as necessary, policies and procedures for religious and spiritual activities in the institution, and informs the staff.Supervise the Ambassadors (volunteer) program in Spiritual Care in coordination with the Director of Volunteers: train, assign, manage, and supervise their work.Facilitates the spiritual care provided by chaplains assigned to CC by their faith groups and of the community clergy visiting patients in the institution, in accordance with the policies of CC.Enhances the relationship of CC with community clergy and congregations through programs of visitation, education, and consultation.Assess the spiritual needs of patients, families, and employees and provide appropriate spiritual care congruent with and in respect for the religious tradition, spirituality, and age-specific needs of others.Conducts religious services and memorial services for staff as needed.Develops and implements a continuous quality improvement program for spiritual care.Functions as an active member of appropriate committees of the institution, e.g., Ethics Committee.Participates in continuing education to remain current in one's field and as a leader.Maintains active relationships with one's professional organization and one's faith group.Administers compliance by visitors and employees with CC's policies on solicitation (regarding religious literature) and patient privacy. Fosters education of the CPE trainees rotating through hospital under the direction of the Director of Spiritual Care at main campus.Other duties as assigned.Education:Baccalaureate degree and a Master of Divinity degree or its equivalent from an accredited theological seminary.Ordination or equivalent by a recognized religious body.Endorsement by the faith group of the candidate to function in institutional spiritual care ministry.Four units of Clinical Pastoral Education.Training and skills in ministry to age-specific spiritual needs of infants, children, adolescents, and/or older adults.Demonstrates leadership abilities and experience.Languages:EnglishCertifications:Credentialing, certification, or eligibility within two (2) years by a certifying plexity of Work:Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.Must be able to work in a stressful environment.Work Experience:Minimum of two (2) years in administrative, management and leadership experience in a health care setting preferred.Physical Requirements:Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods.Ability to work with physical records or operate a computer or other office some locations, ability to travel throughout the hospital some locations ability to move up to 25 lbs.Personal Protective Equipment:Follow standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required."Our caregivers continue to create the best outcomes for our patients across each of our facilities.
