Description

Fall River Health Services is looking for a clinic receptionist who will work collaboratively with clinic staff to enhance the overall day-to-day operations by managing patient flow in and out of the clinic. In this position you will serve patients by greeting and helping them, scheduling appointments, and maintaining records and accounts.

Responsibilities:
  • Greeting patients professionally both in person and on the phone.
  • Quickly answering or properly referring questions and issues.
  • Optimizing provider schedules and patient satisfaction with efficient scheduling
  • Answers incoming phone calls, routing phone call encounters via Electronic Medical record to appropriate work group pool inbasket.
  • Receives and documents prescription refill requests, routine request to appropriate workgroup pool inbasket.
  • Provides education to new patients via telephone and mailing of New Patient Packets
  • Schedules all clinic patients' appointments including coordination with outreach sites and scheduling of outreach site patients.
  • Verifies patient demographics and insurance coverage.
  • Registers and checks in patients as needed.
  • Assists ill or distraught patients as necessary. Assist in contacting local transport bus or family members when necessary for transportation.
  • Confirms Medicaid eligibility and Medicare Managed Home.
  • Schedules nurse visit in accordance with nurse visit protocols.
  • Manages drug representative appointments with clinic.
  • Answers and directs phone calls.
  • Maintains reception area in a neat and orderly condition.
  • Opens and sorts office mail. Delivers outgoing mail to the post office at end of day.
  • Participates in the medical office emergency routine when required. Summons ambulance or EMS or assists other staff members as needed.
Requirements

  • Basic office skills such as typing and filing.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Communication skills to converse clearly over the telephone and in person.
  • Organization and time management to manage a variety of tasks effectively.
  • Attention to detail to schedule patients correctly and communicate scheduling difficulties with providers.
  • Technological skills, such as using word processing and spreadsheet programs to track data.
  • Interpersonal skills to interact positively with patients who may be upset or stressed.
Education/Experience/Licensure:
  • Graduate of a certified medical office training course preferred.
  • High school graduate or equivalent required.
  • Must have or obtain BLS certifcation within 90 days of employment.
