Position: Regular Full Time Accountant

Pay Range: $20.00 - $24.00/hour

About this opportunity:

Plans, coordinates, monitors, and participates in all phases of bookkeeping functions and financial reporting for the. Ensures that bookkeeping transactions are performed in a timely manner and in compliance with established policies and procedures and verifies the accuracy and integrity of books. Prepares various routine financial reports and assists with audits. Prepares and processes receipts, deposits and all other Accounts Receivable type duties. Prepares and processes invoices, checks and all other Accounts Payable type duties. Prepares and generates the General Journal entries, and ability to research any differences and do correcting journal entries. Ability to perform a variety of routines and various accounting functions.

Key responsibilities:

  • Prepares, processes and performs data entry of one or more of the following financial documents: invoices, billings, purchase orders, requisitions, receipts, checks (including mail donations), check requests, bank deposits, journal entries, sale and use tax report, reviews and verifies the same for accuracy, completeness, proper account coding as applicable and timely payment of invoices.
  • Ensures proper internal controls and proper accounting principles are followed.
  • Maintains accurate and complete files of accounts, billings, invoices, and donor/client files; develops and maintains departmental files.
  • Researches and performs follow up on vendor statements.
  • Maintains the reporting system that provides up-to-date and accurate financial information.
  • Compiles data as needed to prepare and review in a timely manner various financial, and statistical reports utilizing Excel. Verifies the same for accuracy and completeness.
  • Prepares correspondence regarding the status of accounts and responds to account inquiries; ensures all correspondence is prepared in a professional and tactful manner.
  • Assists in preparation and review of FASB and audit reports. Assists with internal and external audits.
  • Assists supervising manager in preparation of monthly financial statements, annual budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections.
  • Prepares bank and accounts reconciliations.
  • Researches variances in posting and do correcting entries for accuracy and completeness.
  • Assists others in finance department as needed.
  • Provides accounting assistance to Corps officers.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all accounting and personnel information that you come across as a result while performing your duties.
  • Provides support for special projects.
  • Performs other related work as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
What we are looking for in you:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Business Administration or a related field or two years progressively responsible experience performing double-entry computerized accounting work, OR
  • Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.


Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
  • Ability to meet attendance requirements.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
  • Ability to type and keypunch information into a computer.
  • Ability to perform routine and complex mathematical computations repeatedly, rapidly and accurately.
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently work on multiple projects at the same time without becoming frustrated or disorganized.
  • Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail with constant breaks in concentration associated with answering phones or speaking in person to clients requiring assistance.
  • Ability to manage mental and visual fatigue due to sustained periods of concentration, working under pressure of deadlines and continual interruptions in concentration.
  • Work requires the ability to lift and carry and/or push/pull light (less than 25lbs.) materials, supplies, and equipment. Light mobility: duties are usually performed by a combination of standing, walking, and primarily sitting.
  • Work is usually performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like, but may be performed periodically in disaster service areas and camp settings.
