Job Description: The Silanes Process Development Engineer provides process support, engineering, and development services for manufacturing and purifying chlorosilanes (chlorosilane reaction, distillation, conversion, and infrastructure) to produce hyper pure polycrystalline silicon for the semiconductor and solar markets. Optimization of the production processes is achieved by initiating, conducting, and managing investigations and agile projects focused on evaluating, improving, and validating processes, procedures, equipment, and supplies with a focus on safety, quality, stability, cost reduction, and productivity.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Take ownership for change management relative to PTNs and associated MOCs.
  • Utilize statistical tools for continuous improvement, troubleshooting, and problem-solving.
  • Lead and facilitate RCA, support PHAs, and audits.
  • Facilitate and lead initial FMEAs, annual reviews, and other updates needed relative to changes based on learnings.
  • Conduct materials and operating supply evaluations, qualifications, and roll-outs.
  • Evaluate cost estimations and financial impact analysis.
  • Initiate, conduct, and manage projects to achieve process improvements in the chlorosilane purification systems (chlorosilane reaction, distillation, conversion, and infrastructure) by testing, evaluating, improving, and validating processes, procedures, equipment, and supplies with a focus on safety, quality, reliability, cost reduction, and productivity.
  • Interface with other BD-P and Wacker sites for knowledge sharing and best practices globally.
  • Participate in or lead interdepartmental teams or working groups to support operations and engineering in identifying and correcting deviations from standard processes, quality, or capabilities.
  • Monitor and ensure continuous alignment of quality, processes, and products among corresponding departments, local management, and global partners.
  • Protect intellectual property by patent application as needed, monitor competitor patents, and research information about technological trends and technology applied by competitors.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering or a related engineering field is required; a M.S or Ph.D. in engineering is preferred.
  • 5 or more years of experience.
  • A team player attitude is essential for successfully collaborating with various departments and levels of the organization.
  • Established organizational and communication skills necessary to take ownership of projects and be successful in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong systematic working style with the capability of professionally dealing with changing priorities and requirements.
  • Basic understanding of instrumental analytics is preferred.
  • Experience with database queries (e.g., SQL) and/or data analysis software (e.g., Minitab) is preferred.
  • Broad and interdisciplinary knowledge in Silicon and/or Chlorosilane chemistry is preferred.
  • Knowledge of and/or certification with Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification is a plus.

Salary: $90K-$105K + BONUS - 10-12%
