Position Summary
The Payroll Tax Specialist II process all aspects of payroll tax and liabilities while providing a high level of customer service. This position oversees, implements and maintains payroll tax systems and procedures for an assigned client load. This individual maintains frequent communication with clients, assisting with the process of obtaining information for payroll production and tax related issues; verifies totals, responds to/resolves client questions and problems, and delivers quality customer service. In addition, responsible for all Payroll Tax Liabilities, Quarter/End of Year Tax filings, and Tax Recon. Must be comfortable working in fast paced environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Onboarding new clients into MasterTax; overseeing introduction and training on payroll tax and other product services
- Assisting with multi-State tax filing for payroll clients
- New hire reporting for multiple states on behalf of employers
- Researching tax notices and providing resolution on tax tickets
- Registration for TPA or assisting client TPA access
- Producing & maintaining POA packet for clientele tax purposes
- Keeping abreast of the payroll processing system and changes in wage and tax laws, and corresponding with federal, state, and local tax agencies on behalf of our clients
- Maintaining client files
- Establishing and maintaining a positive working relationship with clients, and coworkers to promote a quality service image
- Processing abatements for notices received
- Researching and resolving account and payroll tax-related questions, concerns, and problems for clients in a friendly and timely manner
- Processing all Payroll liabilities and monthly tax auditing and account recon on consistent process
- Responsible for Payroll tax processing and tracking pick-ups/deposits
- Performing other duties as assigned
- Associates degree in accounting, business, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 2+ years experience with MasterTax and/or Kronos UKG
- 2+ experience with Quarter End/ Year End filings
- Strong organization, oral, and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Strong computer aptitude, which includes expertise with Microsoft Excel and Word
- Ability to analyze data with attention to detail
- Proven ability in customer service and problem resolution; Strong customer service orientation
- Ability to perform thorough work in a fast-paced environment
