**Corporate Buyer**

at Velodyne San Jose, CA Velodyne Lidar provides smart, powerful lidar solutions for autonomy and driver assistance. Headquartered in San Jose, CA, Velodyne is known worldwide for its portfolio of breakthrough lidar sensor technologies. Our lidar technology has revolutionized perception and autonomy for automotive, new mobility, mapping, robotics, and security applications.

We are looking for Corporate Indirect Buyer, who will be responsible for supplier and purchase order management, and supplier delivery performance. This position will be purchasing Indirect goods and services with quality, price and delivery as key metrics.

In this role, you should have demonstrated procurement experience and a strong business acumen. Problem-solving skills and attention to detail are essential. Functional expertise and will assist in complex purchasing projects. This position will require the understanding of basic purchasing concepts and experience with MRP/ERP systems

**Key Responsibilities**

General responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Purchase various materials, supplies and services

Qualify vendors, evaluate quotes and negotiate pricing/terms for both purchased goods and services

Source new suppliers to reduce cost and lead time

Consistently maximize savings

Manage blanket POs

Negotiate price, delivery and payment terms

Maintain accuracy of item master and key system data

Coordinate with business functional areas to obtain information, resolve problems and identify purchasing requirements for new and redesigned products and services

Assist with metric and report management, as needed

Perform any other duties or responsibilities as assigned

**REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:**

2 to 3 years experience in a professional experience

Bachelors degree in Business, Corporate purchasing, Indirect services, Supply Chain Management, Materials Management or equivalent

Strong negotiation, analytical and problem-solving skills

Ability to draw and analyze information from various sources in order to determine appropriate course of action

Basic understanding of both Inventory Management and Quality Management principles

Strong customer service orientation and communication skills are required

Knowledge of accounting and budgeting process as it relates to purchasing

Ability to meet deadlines and to work in a fast-paced and changing environment

Update ERP system to ensure that it has the most recent delivery schedule and cost information.

Plan the flow of materials with suppliers to meet the demand requirements: ensure parts arrive at the right quantity, right cost, and at the right time.

Working knowledge of MS Office, relational databases and ERP systems (Epicor/Oracle/SAP/Etc)

Represent the company in ongoing business relationships with suppliers.

Ensure procurement compliance to the companys Preferred Supplier List.

Manage component Allocations and Risk Buys during tightened markets.

Determine and provide visibility into supplier Lead-Times, Supply Availability, and Long-Term Forecasting and Pricing.

Ensure Suppliers have appropriate technical documentation to produce products accordingly.

Coordinate procurement activities of materials, equipment, machinery, services, and supplies.

Resolve supplier payment issues by working with Finance and Suppliers for accurate invoice submissions.

**Work Conditions**

Working conditions are normal for an office and manufacturing environment. Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
