The Buyer/Planner is responsible for managing the material flow in one or multiple production lines in the San Jose manufacturing facility. He/she owns key metrics including inventory reduction, part shortage reduction, and on-time-delivery. He/she also manages relationships with the vendors to ensure that they are able to meet delivery requirements.

Essential Functions:

Planning:

  • Negotiates and manages blanket PO's, stocking agreements, pricing, supplier lead times, and MOQ's.
  • Manages PO liability.
  • Manages ECO changes, including phase-in/phase-out planning and scrap management.
  • Achieve design inventory by creating and managing an inventory reduction plan.
  • Drives part shortage reduction (frequency and time) through root cause analysis.
  • Provide forecasts to vendors, as needed.

Buying:

  • Create min-max reports and backlog.
  • Negotiate with vendors and expedite deliveries, as needed.
  • Manager the backlog of one or multiple production lines.

Education, Background and Skill Requirements:

  • B.S. degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of buying/planning experience in a production environment.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage several tasks and priorities.
  • 2-3 years of experience using Oracle highly desired, as well as experience using Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail, results-oriented/data-driven, with excellent communication skills and a desire to be a team player.
