board-certified/board-eligible Neurologist
with experience and/or training in stroke or vascular neurology
for the Avera Brain & Spine Institute in Sioux Falls, SD.
This is a full-time, salary supported position.
You will serve as a staff neurohospitalist providing neuro consultation only. Admission and primary medical management is provided by general hospitalist. Will also be responsible for providing neuro management of patients throughout the hospital.
You will be part of a Comprehensive stroke team consisting of neurointerventional, neurointensivist, skilled nursing and certified hospitalists.
Our neuroscience team consists of three neurointensivists, three neurohospitalists, one neurointerventionalist, six neurosurgeons, six neurologists, five physiatrists and advanced practice providers.
You will additionally be able to participate in neurohospitalist practice efficiencies, quality improvement programs, and educational activities for medical students, residents, nurses, and allied health professionals who provide care in the Avera Brain & Spine unit.

Neurological care services associated with Avera Brain & Spine Institute include: a 28-bed medical & surgical ICU, 8-bed dedicated neuro ICU, 8-bed high acuity unit, a 12-bed neuroscience intermediate unit, designated outpatient neurological diagnostic center, designated video EEG-monitored beds, and a sleep diagnostic center (AASM accredited). The Avera Brain & Spine unit supports all aspects of care for critically-ill patients with primary neurological disorders.
Avera McKennan Hospital & University Health Center is a member of Avera Health, a regional family of more than 300 healthcare facilities in the five-state region of South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, North Dakota and Nebraska. Avera McKennan is a 545-bed, non-profit, Catholic facility and the regional referral center for the Avera Health System and surrounding five-state area. Our Careflight helicopter, ground and fixed wing aircraft transport patients from a service area with a population of 1,200,000 to our Level II Trauma Center.
