Hospice Executive Director/Administrator

The Executive Director/Administrator is responsible for the overall direction of the hospice services. The Executive Director/Administrator is responsible for the employment of qualified hospice personnel; is responsible for the provision of hospice services, directly, and the delegation to and coordination of hospice personnel evaluations; is responsible for establishing standards of care to comply with federal and state regulations and guidelines. The Executive Director/Administrator establishes, implements, and evaluates goals and objectives for hospice services that meet and promote the standards of quality and contribute to the total organization and philosophy.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
- Responsible for developing and implementing the operational plan for Luminary Hospice which includes, but is not limited to effective communication channels, service policies and procedures to accomplish identified outcomes, and best practices for clinical services.
- Direct staff in performance of their duties including admission, discharge, transfer, revocation, and provision of service to patients.
- Responsible for ensuring appropriate service policies and procedures are developed and implemented to accomplish identified outcomes.
- Develop measurable performance milestones and objectives to measure utilization for delivery of comprehensive care and ensure personnel is performing at a satisfactory level for hospice services.
- Conflict and complaint management and resolution.
- Develop staffing plan and partner with management team on staff development including orientation, in-service, continuing education, competency testing and quality assessment performance improvement.
- Ensure that interdisciplinary care is provided.
- Ensure services provided by other agencies are authorized by hospice.
- Ensure appropriate data collection and regular, complete reports are received by the Governing Body.
- Ensure that structure and systems promote interdisciplinary care
- Ensure collaboration with agencies and vendors for effective management of services, outcomes, and best practices for clinical services.
- Monitor business operations to insure financial stability through operation budget.
- Ensure the organization is complying with legal, regulatory, accreditation requirements, standards of ethical business and clinical practice are maintained.
- Ensure all business conduct is above minimum standards required by law and will not condone any activities that achieve results through violation of the law, unethical business, or patient care practices.
JOB REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in nursing, required. Master's degree in nursing or related healthcare field, preferred. Maintains an active nursing license that is in good standings in the state performing job duties.
Maintains an active CPR certification. At least 7-10 years of experience in healthcare management, hospice, or palliative care and/or training in end-of-life care preferred. At least 5 years of experience with Medicare Hospice Certification as well as CHAP guidelines. Knowledge hospice care and the services provided to patient and family/caregiver through an interdisciplinary group. Proficient in MS Office applications and ability to learn department and job-specific software systems. Demonstrate organizational skills. Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrate analytical skills when problem-solving. Demonstrate high attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
