The Product Engineer is responsible for contributing to the development of new products and processes through production qualification and successful technology transfer to the Production Team. Costs, pricing, volumes, safety and quality demanded by the Cannabis Market are key to the success of projects. Working closely with the Production, Marketing, Retail, Wholesale, Safety and Compliance group ensures these factors are considered. This position also participates in the design process working closely with the Marketing Group determining end-use product properties that support consumers' needs and desires while keeping in mind the manufacturability of new products. This position reports to the Vice President, Commercialization.

Location: Remote with 40%-60% travel expectation to AWH sites. Strong preference to candidates who reside in IL, MI, OH, NJ, MA, PA, MD.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional internal and external teams (Marketing, Sourcing, Production, Distribution, Retail, Wholesale, Leadership, Partner Companies, Equipment Manufacturers) to develop new cannabis products, including but not limited to edibles, extracts, topicals, and vape cartridges.
  • Perform testing and analysis of cannabis products to ensure quality, consistency, and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Serve as on-site representative for Commercialization at any/all facilities, requiring regular travel and on-site presence.
  • Identify areas for process improvement and optimization in product manufacturing to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Maintain accurate records of product specifications, formulations, test results, and manufacturing processes.
  • Participate in quality control processes to uphold the highest standards of product quality and safety.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to cannabis product engineering and manufacturing.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Manufacturing Engineering, Food Science, or a related field.
  • At least 1 internship in related field required; 1+ years experience in a similar role preferred.
  • Experience working in production with responsibility for safety preferred.
  • Genuine interest in the cannabis industry and a desire to contribute to the development of high-quality cannabis products.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and draw actionable insights.
  • Fundamental understanding of statistics and process control.
  • Proficient in MS Office, including Excel and Data Analysis capabilities; MS Project, SolidWorks, AutoCAD or Pro/E preferred.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in all aspects of work.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities and requirements.
  • Basic understanding of cannabis regulations and compliance requirements is a plus.
  • Self-motivated and ability to work independently or on a team as needed.
  • Ability to travel to AWH facilities 40%-60% of the time.
